No, just no. Clogging roster with washed up players like Coutrier is not the way to go.

Flyers accept if you take the retention off. If your asking us to retain almost $20M on a player over 7 years you should prepare to give more than what Hertl got so throw in another 1st and Kulich or another 1st lol.

Coots has better stats, is better defensively, and would be hahlf the AAV of Hertl in this scenario who got a 1st and a 1st round drafted player. Flyers would want more than that.

Which is why trades like that rarely happen in the NHL

They have drafted 4 centers in the first and 2nd round the past 2 years if they bring in a center it’s going to be a short term move.

And with his injury history & age, plus declining play, i wouldn’t even want him at half price
Couturier would be a horrible idea for us

And no one is gonna take that contract off Philly’s hands
They’re stuck with it (thankfully)

Your team pays Jeff Skinner $9M a year and you guys haven’t sniffed the playoffs in almost two decades. Coots may be overpaid but let’s not act like Skinner’s isn’t just as bad. His terrible deal is just on the tail end.

Not sure why a fan of one of the most pathetic franchises in the NHL has anything to laugh about but always enjoyable listening to ur insight lol

He had 8 more points than Coots and makes $1M more, that’s productive?

By the time of the last 3 years of Coots’ deal, the cap will probably be pushing $100M-$105M and his AAV will be right in line with 2C money.

Yes, GOALS matter
And that’s a down season for Skinner vs what’s typical for your boy

Career Points:
Coots PPG career = 0.63 (498 in 795)
Skinner PPG career = 0.66 (670 in 1,006)

Career Earnings:
Coots: $45M
Skinner: $82M

Point Per Dollar Made
Coots: $90k made per point
Skinner: $122k made per point

Career Awards:
Coots = Selke
Skinner = Nothing

Extras:
Coots is in the top 80% in the league in defensive metrics as of 4/29/24
Skinner has a 0% rating as of 1/21/24 in defensive metrics and is one of the worst on the league

Clearly offensively the players aren’t any different. The only difference is Coots is one of the best players in the league defensively and Skinner is one of the worst. Also if Skinner had a down year and Coots had a typical year why are their career averages basically the same?

It’s so much fun to simply prove you wrong lol.

Actively waiting for your response to how Skinner had a down year but Coots had a typical year!

Please provide your in depth insight on how Skinner is so much better!

Especially when 0.66 PPG per 82 games equates to 54 points per season for Skinner and 0.63 PPG per 82 games equates to 52 points per season for Coots.

That’s so crazy to me that on average Skinner scores 2 more points per season than Coots.

Yet even tho Coots averages 52 points per season he had “a typical year” in ur words even tho he had 38 points and was 14 points off his average and Skinner averages 54 points per season and he had “a down year” in ur words even tho he had 46 points and was only 8 points off his average.

Player A was 14 points off his average
Player B was 8 points off his average

Which player had a down year and which player had a typical year again?

I can keep going if you want me to. You know since u post like ur word is law, I’ll continue to post the stats and facts that go against everything you say. But please fill me in on how ur opinion matters more than facts 😂

Don’t care about Career, care about NOW
And NOW, Couts is a shell of his old self
You’ll retreat that contract for the next 7 years, plain & simple

Skinner is off our books soon,
and you’ll still be stuck with that anchor contract,
just praying he can get you 15goals

Good luck

Dude you can just say u lied and were proven wrong it’s what an adult is capable of doing.

You said and I quote “Coots had a typical year and Skinner had a down year” which is mathematically and analytically false. You can’t argue u care about averages then say u only care about the current. Ur just contradicting urself and u lose ur credibility.

It’s much more of an adult move to just say what u said was incorrect. I can admit Buffalo is better off long term with Skinner coming off compared to Coots being another half a dozen years. But I don’t think u can actually admit what u said was wrong, I don’t think u actually have the gall to do it.

Last TWO years
(at their age it doesn’t make sense to go back further, but your boy hasn’t been good in 4+ anyways)

Skinner 128pts in 153games
Couts 55pts in just 103 games 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, enjoy that buddy

Not one self respecting person that works any job in analytics goes off of 2 years of data. Data is typically formed off of 5+ years for any type of project. They do this because 2 years isn’t sufficient enough to form a correct trend analysis. Aka you can make the data say what you want to when u pick that small of a sample size. Hope that helps.

Couts isn’t the player NOW, that he was 5years ago
So absolutely no one who has a brain is gonna take into account stats from that far back
It’s just stupid to do
Especially when you’re projecting forward the next SEVEN YEARS of a guy who is in his 30s already

Just laughable

I mean who’s to say he won’t be the same player? Marchand got better in his 30’s, Marchessault has had two huge seasons after turning 30. Nobody knows what Coots will come back to be until next year when he has his first full hockey calendar year in 3 years.

Again ur trying to say u know exactly what’s gonna happen for the next 7 years when you couldn’t even tell me the facts about the last 7+ years of their careers.

Like I said dude, u speak in opinions and I speak in facts. U can hate all you want but I just laugh it off because facts are true and opinions are useless like ur takes on this site.

Four straight years of evidence suggests he won’t be a ppg player anymore, but you hold on to your supposed “FACT” that he can ever be that again

LAUGHABLE

He was at 0.92 and 0.86 4 and 3 years ago

Skinner only had 1 PPG season in that time span and has been below 0.80 each year in the other 3 years of that span.

Are you suggesting Skinner will also never be a PPG player again?

I don’t think he will
But you’re the one who brought up Skinner to make yourself feel better about Couturier & that god awful contract

I have no illusions that he’s not really a “ppg” guy
Skinner is still likely to get 30ish goals a year though
And even if he doesn’t, we can move on from him WAY, WAY before u can get rid of Couts

He has 357 goals in 1006 games or 0.35 GPG average for his career.

0.35 GPG over an 82 games season is 28 goals. So that’s not accurate.

Over the last 4 seasons since you like to think that’s a good metric to use: 0.35 GPG which equals 28 goals in a season.

And since you say players will get worse with age that means Skinner will too so yet again math proves you wrong he likely wont hit 30 goals a year by ur logic.

This is gonna be my last response to you ever on this site because I just keep using ur logic against you and u still try to argue about it. It’s comical but a waste of time nonetheless.
