Instead of giving the best goal scorer in the game a world class play maker they trade for the former best goal scorer who's limping towards his twilight and a thug. Hardest of passes

Matthews pulls a McDavid and gets 100 assists? And Ovi not a bad passer.

Thug, cmon Wilson is a little more.

Getting the record as a Leaf would be priceless though.

It doesn't look like the chase to the record is going to be as fast as he thought. He'll stay in Washington in his attempt. Matthews scores goals. Could he get 100 assists? Doubtful. But if he played with McDavid, I bet he scores over a goal a game.

Well let me stop all the crazy stuff…

ya not 100 assists but he is a great passer and could and should have more assists. I like him with Domi but the other side needs an upgrade from Bertuzzi. Not too impressed with him aside for a game or two around his birthday.

Big game tomorrow! I was impressed with the way they hung in there the last game, haven’t seen that in a while and some.

If Matthews is good to go tomorrow, and they play like that again, Boston is going to start doubting themselves.

I see something in Knies I haven’t seen in a Leaf for many moons. That goal (credit to Tavares as well) was just old skool simple hockey…especially OT hockey…no tic tac toe needed

But ya Knies has a very high ceiling imo, just needs a couple of years to fill out and learn the game a little and you got a true power forward big game guy.

Ya ok…no comment on that rant of yours

This was a Leaf perspective thing…if I am the caps I just get a good cheap playmaker like Domi and he helps get Ovi to 895 for sure

Could be a soon as next season man. This was his first full NHL season. It's a grind and he's become accustomed to it.

Ya true...he made it...I have no idea of what his numbers could be but a comp (and I hate comps) is like a modern version of two Johns...Tonelli and Leclair...so big tough guys that play a heavy game that can score big time goals...thanks very much!

The other guy I see (and I hate comps but) is Benoit...I dunno so much like a Sylvain Lefevbre type D...again they aren't easy to find...great work they did with him...remember all the debate on where Benoit/Liljegren/Brodie/etc are on the pecking order? To be fair Benoit has not been awesome but he has shown flashes of a playoff type D...again next year could be huge for him.

Benoit is limited in his effectiveness. Many plays die on his stick. He's pretty good in his zone but outside of it, he's just not capable of anything good

He had a Todd Gill type rush once or twice, like out of no where...he is still a project but I see a way better version now then in camp when he was awful

I am totally fine with him as our 3LD and PK guy but he needs to be limited in his usage. Valuable no question.
