I agree that there will be no blockbuster UFAs signings, as that just doesn't happen in Winnipeg.

This looks like another first round exit to me unless they can trade for a top 4 RD so that they can run:
Morrissey - New Guy and Dillon - DeMelo, or
Morrissey - DeMelo and Dillon - New Guy

I think they'd have to part with Ehlers to get someone like that.

I agree with the thought on bringing a new guy in to the D core, but Carrier could be that guy. Very solid both ways and I would say that having two solid pairs instead of a loaded top pair with an ok second pair is their solution. Ehlers is solid, just needs a new coach or maybe a fresh start so I can understand that mindset

I don't think that Carrier is enough of an upgrade for the D-core overall, but he is definitely an improvement over Pionk. I like Ehlers but now you have two coaches (Maurice and Bowness) who have coached the team to 50+ win seasons that don't trust him to make the right decision in high leverage situations. Maybe its Ehlers after all. He probably feels slighted so he might push for a trade as he enters the last year of his contract.

Very understandable take. I'd be fine with the jets going either route, but we will have to see how it goes

It will be another speculation filled offseason, though not as crazy as last offseason. lol

Need a bigger upgrade then Carrier, not sure how much better he really is then Pionk and he's small too, the Jets blueline needs to get bigger.

Dillon isn't taking a pay cut.

The help that Hellebuyck needs is a psychologist.
