At first I assumed you were a leafs fan. Dobson is going to be our #1 D-man for the foreseeable future. RD is one of the hardest positions to fill, and a player like Marner truly doesn't help us. The best plan is to just not do anything stupid

Montour would also probably cost more than 5.5M, he didnt have as good of a season as last year, but he wasn't too far off in terms of production from Hanifin (0.59 PPG vs 0.5) who just got 7.35M in VG. He'll easily get 6M+. I think it would take at least 6.75M for the Islanders to lure him in. Even if he was an option at 5.5M though having Dobson over him would be much better especially in the long-run. They should look to lock him up to an 8-year extension this off-season.

If the Islanders can pull off something like Pulock + Palimeri + Wahlstrom + a 1st for Marner, then that's when it would be worth adding Marner to the fold perhaps but I don't think Treliving would be fooled into doing that trade.

The Jets would accept a Perfetti - Pulock swap, but the Isles wouldn't offer it.

The pride of Grandview, MB might say yes to a move.
