Trade Simmonds/Voracek now

Description
I've heard the argument be maid by more than a few people. They want to wait until the end of the season to trade him to see where the team is. With Provorov and Konecny up for extensions in two years and Patrick eligible for an extension then too, it seems that everybody wants to move him because this team may not be SCF contenders by then and we don't want to give him term at age 31. From that standpoint, it makes sense. I don't believe it personally, but i'll humor it.

If you do trade him and want max value (at least for Simmonds) you move them now. Think about the haul (at the time) that VAN got for Kesler. or what the Isles just got for Hamonic. Contending teams can have him for two playoff runs on a relatively inexpensive deal, that would bring in a better haul than what they got for Brayden Schenn.

Like I said, I'm personally of the opinion that you hold onto him and see where they are at. But I'll play along just for fun.

If we move Simmonds, I want a top prospect and 2 firsts coming back our way (Kaprizov/2019 1st/2020 1st)

Sam Steel, by all accounts is one of the top forward prospects in the Ducks system. The reason I included the conditions on the 3rd round pick is because we aren't taking a bad contract back like we did with Schenn

yeah he's a good prospect but I'd take someone like Kaprizov, Kyrou, etc over him. Personally, I think Rubtsov is a better prospect than Steel. I completely disagree with the NSH deal. I like Fabbro a lot but what's the point of getting Ellis who is a UFA in two years? Why not try for Kamenev, Fabbro, pick, and cap dump or something like that? We don't need Ellis if we are selling off two of our best forwards it's pointless.

But I still feel that we can get a top 10 prospect in the NHL, someone like Kaprizov, Keller, etc. instead of Sam Steel, even though I like his game. I think that if the Wild wan to contend, they moved a 1st + pieces for Hanzel, why wouldn't they move Kaapriozv and late 1sts for a jack of all trades with Simmonds

If its NSH, there would have to be some money coming back. There could have been a Craig Smith coming back instead and then you add a Kamenev or a Fiala to the deal or another 1st. There's a lot of different moves that could be made. I was also thinking of Voracek to the Wild and I'd probably do Kaprozov, Niederreiter, and a 1st in '19.

NSH can't afford that Voracek/Ellis swap with cap space (and Johansen still waiting to be signed).

Voracek would be a great scoring addition, but there's just under a $6M cap difference that NSH has to eat in that deal (Ellis contract is $2.5M for another 2 years).

I will add that the PHI Top 4 looks excellent if that deal went through:

Simmonds deal is fine, but Nashville overpays in the Voracek deal. Ellis alone holds more value than Voracek.

certainly macdonald is unwanted at 5m a year multi years. same with voracek. he's doesn't play to his 8m plus contract. no team is taking without with a sweetener or bad money in return. if you don't want any cap coming back for simmonds, the ducks aren't the team.
