Ok, I get that we're getting 2 really good prospects and a solid defenseman. But Karlsson and a 1st is a ridiculously high price to pay for anything. Thus, we're down a 1st round pick and - unless Guenther and the rest of the youth take a giant step forward - definitely worse. I'm also skeptical that Yager and especially Pickering are NHL ready.
As for Utah, what do they have to gain from acquiring EK? Karlsson's addition alone probably isn't going to take them from the bottom into the playoffs.

The Coyotes trade, while creative, I don't think makes much sense for either side - plus EK would block it anyway

Thank you all for the constructive feedback. I'm not always great at knowing what prices are legitimate for prospects and trades. I'm typically of the mind of overpay a bit to get what you want. It's like buying Ben and Jerry's vs the good store brand ice cream.
