Too much for Barrie. Also, I don't see two newbies taking both assistant spots. Maybe one, but not both

Barrie must be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Two top prospects and a first pick is a lot.

On the other hand, I'm okay with giving the C to Matthews.

Deal is fine for Colorado, their D was the worst in history last year when Johnson went out so it's not like they have anything to patch up even if they kept Barrie. Won't happen though, they hold on to players until they lose them for nothing

I think the overall concept of the trade makes a lot of sense. The Leafs have a surplus of young, NHL forwards and it would be wise to package some to bring in a high end defenseman.

Brown is not going to be traded, is going to be signed 4-5 yrs as he is very much liked for his nbrs, options to play PP/PK up and down lineup and his work ethic
You can see Leafs Management change with Shanahan and Lou, they don't want to give away assets unless makes tons of sense, and develop from within
They just signed a vet like Marleau for Money, no assets given away (third year of contract is the price)
IMO Leafs prefer to squeeze all they can get from actual D pool (Rosen and Borgman are FA signings, if Leafs were half right we could all be surprised of the performance we get)
Wait for Liljegren to become top 4 RHD, then no need to trade away Kapanen for example, who could be a LW/RW on roster as soon as next year after JVR/Komarov are lost to FA

I agree 100% with allendeunico. I think the Leafs want to keep defence position open for internal competition for their prospects of Dermott, Nielsen, Rosen and Borgman this year for one of them to start the year on the Leafs.

Not surprised if they resign Polak for 1 year as insurance once he comes offs injury reserve. They still have Marcerin and Marchenko for depth as well.

Ok trade if the Brown part is not apart of it. Also maybe Auston-C Leo-A Marleau-A Reilly-A and Bozak and Hainsey would be backup assistant captains
