I saw something like this around a couple months back. My contention from that is still very similar, with the modification in bold.

If I am trading Provorov, it has to be for someone named "McDavid" or parlay of players. Based on our needs, I wouldn't add the 2018 1st round pick, I would actually have WIN add to Patrick Laine Unless it is 100% confirmed that Sanheim/Morin/Hagg can replace him, I am unwilling to move Provorov.

I do however, like the idea of trying to add him, but that is going to be vastly difficult.

Laine is a franchise player, Provorov is not on the same level as him as far as talent goes. This trade would be fairly equal

Provorov is also a franchise player. The trade wouldn't be equal for Philadelphia because we are trading our best defensemen (of few we have) for player we don't really need

Winnipeg would consider looking at Provorov and Patrick. I don't think Provorov and a first gets it done. With the Jets carrying Morrissey, Kulikov and Enstrom already on the left side and a couple quality LHD players in the system, the move doesn't make organizational sense to the Jets. I think Chevy goes to bed often with a smile on his face knowing that he has the Laine-Scheifele-Ehlers line under control for several years.

No offense, but you are very wrong. Laine was 7th in the NHL in goals as an 18 year old and he missed 9 games. Provorov has much to prove.

Provorov is already one of the best young defensemen in the game, arguably better than Werenski. He played all season with Andrew MacDonald, so his numbers may be bad relative to other young defensemen, but the eye test is that he is already very good

Was Provorov up for rookie of the year last year? I haven't see him play but Laine simple has more value. I don't see either team wanting to trade either player though

He finished 9th, but I am not contending that Provorov has more universal trade value. I am saying that given the fact that he is relied so much on defense with the Flyers, I don't trust that we have the proper organizational depth to trade him away without getting a defensemen in return, unless we acquire a very very substantial forward (McDavid) or a parlay of players.

Provorov was hands-down, the best and most reliable Flyers' defensemen last season and is projected to be our #1 for as long as he is part of the organization

The problem here is that you're placing the value of Provorov on how needed he is and not his actual value. I think we both agree this trade wouldn't happen but but just because someone is #1 D on one teams doesn't mean that he's worth the price of a #1 D man. Look to New Jersey and tell me if your same principle applies

His "actual value" takes into account supply and demand. Given the fact that the Flyers are weak on defense, Provorov isn't going to be getting traded unless its an overpayment. Without him, the Flyers would cripple. He is our highest WAR defensemen and our most effective penalty killer (defense)

Lets say that there is three teams in on a center that'll make their chances of winning a cup, slightly elevated. That player, "Player A" might only be worth 6M per year to everyone else, but if a team(s)needs him to get them to a cup, they might goes as high to pay him 7M for him, when he is only worth 6M to everyone else.

All that I am saying is that if Provorov is leaving Philadelphia, there needs to either be one of two things : a.) an overpayment in forwards (McDavid) or b.) a young defensemen that can replace him
