It Could Be 3 to 0 For Carolina

Created by: edeangel84
Team: 2024-25 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: May 11, 2024
Published: May 11, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Igor is the reason this series is 3-0 the other way. The Canes have shown they have the better 5-5 team. The Rags have the best goalie in the league and they’ve won the special teams.

1 Keep Rod! You’re not finding a better coach.

2 Trade KK. You can’t pay him that contract and afford to resign other more important players.

3 Freddie has been good… but it’s time for him to move on. Go with Kochetkov and find a cheaper backup.

4 Move on from Burns.

Carolina is the way better team at 5v5? Based on what

    5v5 xGF: 6.92-6.72 Carolina….wow that’s a massive difference

All they do is control possession and shoot 100 low danger shots. Quantity ≠ Quality

In the end nobody cares which team "outplayed" who.

Only who won and who lost.

    Period.

And here's a pearl of wisdom.

The goalie is a part of the team.

He's being paid to stop pucks!

He's not a separate entity. LOL

    Rangers excel at drafting goalies...

Beezer, Baron, King and now Shesty.

    There's a pattern here.

    Full credit to them.

I mean I agree with that completely, but I also don’t think Carolina is “the better team” in any of the games

People forget that special teams and goaltending are a part of today’s game

Cute lol. After 60+ minutes, NYR usually win no matter how we play. Sure CAR has Rods energy, but being locked out of our slot and shooting from the outside is harmless. Then your D can't handle our puck mastery.
    It could be 4 - 0 NYR

You’ve been outplayed 5-5 through the series. Everything I wrote is just a fact.

We often get outshot, usually cause we are winning. We control the inside & the inside of the net. Continue to weather the storm, a barrage of outside panick shots & obvious frustration from a few of their hot heads. Lay off the stats & watch the real game. Thanks for the "facts" though!

The numbers are the numbers and they say Carolina would have won 2 of the 3 if they faced average goaltending. They haven’t and that’s why they’re done.

The numbers are a lie because they’re inflated by 20+ low danger shots. This is exactly why the xGF are close because even though the rangers are being out-shot, they get a lot more quality chances than the Canes

    Game 3- https://moneypuck.com/g.htm?id=2023030223

Expected goals were 4.03 for canes and 2.55 for you in game 3.

Game 1- 4.44 Canes to 2.18 for your rags.

    Per NST:
Game 1: expected goals 2.67-2.16 Canes (7-6 high danger chances NYR)
Game 3: expected goals 4.37-3.55 Canes (12-12 high danger chances)

So yea, the team that shoots more quantity is obviously gonna have a higher expected goals for lol

What’s the risk for us? We have no option for a 3C. Our two centers are about to be 37 and 38. Yager might be a 2C or RW. We don’t have an answer to that yet.

what's the risk, an unmovable contract of an under performing overpaid player for the next 6 years.

I remember TOR fans trying to say the same thing on here about the BOS series..... they lost.

The other team gets to say something about being "outplayed" and so far it's 3-0

You can "out play" someone right into a sweep.

I’m well aware of that. I never said goaltending isn’t important, quite the opposite.

Who’s going to be the 3C (heck even 2C) in 3 years time? We don’t have options.

    I'm not worried about filling in a 3c or a 2c in 3 year.
The whole team will be rebuilding then. I could care less, let them finish dead last that year. Let them use that cap space to take bad player cap dumps in to help build the team.

Indeed they will be bad by then… which is exactly why adding a 23 year old C isn’t a big deal. As the cap goes up he isn’t going to be that overpaid. The kid is a solid defensive forward. I don’t think Philip Danault is overrated or really even overpaid. That is the kind of player he can be. It doesn’t mean he deserved to go 3 OA, but it does mean he’s far from a liability.

he isn't a solid defensive forward. They hide him in the Ozone. He turns the puck over more than he takes it away, and they don't even trust him to PK.

He's an over paid cap dump, on a 6 year deal that makes him unmovable. Yet you give up a pick to take him. I wouldn't take that contract if CAR added a 1st to it.
It straddles the team with a bad contract now, gets nothing in return, and you get stuck with it going forward.
If I'm going to pay a guy 5 mil per for 3-4 years after this team starts a rebuild there better be some compensation coming with it.

This is a horrible idea for the penguins.

Kids always need time in the AHL unless they’re the elite talents.

Jackson Blake is ready... Last year in the NHL he showed that.
