There seems to be this persistent problem in which folks keep putting in Marner when, based on the expected return, they clearly meant Matthews. CapFriendly really needs to take a look at the AGM interface and see what keeps causing this bug.

The Jackets are not giving up their core for a guy that is undersized and has yet to prove himself as a difference maker in the playoffs. Marner is also severely overpaid. I said this before and I will say it again, Marner’s return in a trade is either going to be quality players but little cap relief or lots of cap relief but little quality. Wingers are a dime a dozen. He doesn’t standout and is an unknown in production without Matthews and Nylander. His one year contract also practically makes it impossible to land a top prospect in the deal bc Marner has no reason to sign long term anywhere. So if Toronto really wants to trade Marner to CBJ they need to do some form of Marner straight up for Laine or trade for solid depth pieces and use the cap savings on the open market. But ideally the Jackets still are likely not to accept Marner straight up bc the Jackets already lack size and this makes that worse.

Didn't Sorokin get pulled in the playoffs? Part way through game 3 and he never played after that. Was he hurt?

Oh look it’s another grab bag of spare parts…good rule of thumb on these is quality over quantity
