Vancouver would probably need to move some cap out first (Garland, Mikheyev for example).

Need to find a way to make the cap since, they'll need to sign him anyways, and he is an 11M FWD, would pay a premium to get him for 7M which just wouldn't be worth it. If the Leafs are intersted in Hronek (which they could be), they could be open to taking a middle six guy as well, Maybe Garland over Mikheyev though.

That's why Mikheyev is practically a part of Chicago on CF

I think the Leafs make that trade. You have shown the cap works. I guess the stumbling block will be finding a taker for M NTC Mikheyev.

They probably will do that but still have a hole without Marner, probably better options in UFA than Garland but not everyone will want to sign in Toronto. I'm just saying though if Vancouver is unable to dump Mikheyev, trading Garland could be an option. Where are the futures though in the Marner trade? I don't think they do it 1 for 1, would be worse than Hall for Larsson (although now Larsson is arguably the better player).

Why are all the Vancouver ACGMs dealing Hronek, just dont think he will be worth re-signing, bad fit, or just to save Zadorov? He seemed like the perfect player for them to get last year.

Hronek is far more important to the Canucks than Marner ever would be. A quality RHD is hard to find and the I really doubt that Canucks management would rather pay more for a RW.
Marner is worth $11MM ONLY to to the Leafs.
The Canucks are paying their 100 point player (Miller) $8MM/yr. That is the ABSOLUTE maximum Marner is worth.

Not worth it. We saw Hughes get Schenn paid and he'd still be a Norris candidate with a literal pylon paired with him.

Rather have another 100 pt forward and bring in a defensive partner for Hughes. JT is a bargain. Canucks did well with that deal.

So basically, you don't want to pay him because he's not helping Hughes and he's not a fit on the 2nd pairing either/rather have a twin-tower shutdown pair.

That's not true. Yes, no one but the Leafs would have signed him to this contract as an RFA, but there would be multiple teams that would offer him an 8 figure salary as a UFA. So, currently, he is worth 10.9M, the only issue is do you really want to give him a raise? Maybe not, when it will cost you a fortune to re-sign Hughes., but you don't have to worry about that until 3-years from now. 8M for a 100-pt player is more than a bargain.

Yup, plus Willander will be on the team soon. I think he'd play well with Z or Soucy.
