Pens 24-25

Created by: SEALBound
Team: 2024-25 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: May 13, 2024

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If you look at past returns for guys like Marner, they don't fetch massive returns. The NMC will be restrictive and the return below is exactly what Toronto needs. Maybe the Pens add one of their 2nds and there's a swapping of prospects but I much beyond that, I think the return is what we will see.

Now I see why Pens fans get a bad rap. Add a first and maybe it goes through

both deals are horrible for the penguins.
They aren't giving that up for rental Marner. Marner isn't resigning here. Nor do the penguins want to pay him his 12 mil + new contract.
That's a horrible return on Jarry, I'd rather just keep him as the backup at that rate.

"Past returns for guys like Marner"?!?!? Who, exactly, were you thinking of as a comparable to Mitch Marner who ever got traded? Matthew Tkachuk? At the time of that trade, Jonathan Huberdeau was coming off a 115-point season and MacKenzie Weegar was considered an All-Star.

I think the Leafs would want Graves as the Center piece, otherwise they’d just be happy to have cap space.

well while everyone is focused on those pretty bad trades, im gonna focus on that still quite bad bottom 6 and the defense corp that was completely ignored and stank. need a left shot partner for kris that isnt named POJ or ryan graves. we need depth pieces, not a star player that fades in the playoffs

Used Kessel as a gauge. With Marner only having one-year with no promise that he resigns, in addition to the NMC, the return isn't going to be as high as people think. A young top 4 dman, a budding top 6 wing with speed and physicality, a quality forward prospect, and what would probably be like $7mil in space after resigning POJ is hardly something to shake a stick at.

Yeah, no. Those are three young quality assets for one year of a playoff dud who has a $10mil+ one-year contract. With no guarantee that Marner resigns, that's quite a few future assets for the Penguins to give up.

Brother What. I was saying that's not nearly enough. O'Connor is good, and Koivunen has shown flashes, and Joseph is solid, but I can't see them getting into the Leafs top nine anytime soon.
