Leafs pass. Fair offer for sure. Leafs not about to pay 5 players 11 million a season or more

So.let me get this straight. Wings want to get rid of salary, so they trade a goalie who had a good season and and decent to good defenseman for a guy who makes more than the two player and had a horrible season with a total of 23 points. Did I get that right?

Yeah NO

How is that a fair offer 🤯? Leafs have to add a 1st apparently (on this site, where logic goes to die) to dump JT who had one year left at $11M but we have to add a decent young player & 1st to acquire a guy with 3 years left at $11M.
Absolutely the opposite of a fair offer ; no team is taking Doughty at his full cap hit, nevermind paying premium assets

Tavares play tailed off drastically last year, and his heavy boots as a forward don’t help his case. The part about adding a first to get rid of Tavares is dumb, I don’t claim that so don’t put that on me lol. If you think Tavares is worth more, than wouldn’t you agree with my take that this is fair?

Doughty is a Right Handed D. Was 2nd in the NHL in ice time this year and put up 50 points. I don’t have worries that for the next 3 years his play will be sustainable.

Robertson is ok, he’s not a blue chip prospect and probably tops out as a 3 line winger. I’m ok moving him to improve the team.

And again, I said Leafs decline because of the cap hit

Robertson was on pace for 20 goals over full season, while only playing 11min and without any PP. He’s a cost controlled (RFA), so he’s a valuable asset - any team would take that production rate.
Tavares just put up 29 goals / 65 points and despite your criticism- he tilted the ice in Leafs favour big time. Still a very effective player that any team would take. Is he worth his cap hit? No - but neither is Doughty; he is nowhere near an $11M dman and he has three years left.
I’ll take Tavares at 1x$11M over Doughty at 3x$11M every day and twice on Sunday.

You won’t find a bigger Robertson fan than myself, he played well for portions of the season, then it got stale, he’d be scratched, come back into the lineup and start the cycle over again. He can score goals no doubt, can he be good enough on the other side of the puck to warrant more playing time? We shall see

And agree that neither doughty or Tavares are not worth 11 million, that’s why the return in this trade isn’t worth what an 11 million dollar player would get. And for that exact reason of Doughty costing 11 million is why I say Leafs decline

Honestly it sounds like we agree here but you just didn’t understand my original reasonings lol

Man, that is just purely awful....
I mean, as a German, I'd of course like to see Peterka wih the Kings, but that's not the point here. You are literally destroying the team with all these moves.

Let's not talk about whether some deals are fair or not fair, but more about the fact that you're easily willing to trade half of the team including pretty almost all players that are the core of the Kings team. I don't see a single benefit the Kings would have here besides cap space

Byfield has a way higher ceiling and is a harder to find skill set than Peterka. I know we like our players but we gotta be realistic here

I dont think he does. Peterka has developed just as well as him, all Byfield has for him over JJ is his size.

I think ur gonna look at what they both do next year and wish you'd have done this trade. Not saying Peterka is bad or nothing, he's a legit top 6 forward, but something tells me Byfield has another gear

The Byfield trade might be the worst trade in Kings history. Buffalo fans acting like they would reject that is hilarious. Kevyn Adams would personally drive Peterka to LA if it made that trade happen.

Zero point zero chance LA will trade Kopitar. None. I totally get what you're trying to do here, but it's not happening.

Toronto, with their already significant cap issues, is not giving up a first to pay Doughty $11M.

Gavrikov would have to waive for Detroit but, despite some of the comments here, that value is pretty good. He's a much better player than Maatta and DET has plenty of space to replace Lyon (not to mention Cossa on the way).

Feels like you could have kept Moore instead of moving him too. This top six would be one of, if not the worst in the league.

And the fact that Byfield is top tier defensively and a center vs a winger.

I think Peterka has another gear as well. Given better performance from his linemates and at least an average PP on top of that he can be another 40g 90pt+ guy

Peterka was well above average defensively despite not being asked to play that role, and the Sabres have 2 Centers with another 3 prospects in the minors, so its not a position of need
