Winnipeg will likely prioritize a RHD over a LHD in an Ehlers trade, as there is very little NHL-ready RHD in the Jets system and the NHL squad needs an upgrade on the right side.

It's Pulock or Dobson in a trade for Ehlers. And i dont see NYI willing to trade Dobson. Beyond those two names Winnipeg should have no interest in dealing with NYI in an Ehlers trade.

Pelech instantly becomes the Jets second best dman but he doesn't waive and doubtful that Pulock would either.

If the Jets trade Ehlers who replaces him in the lineup? He's their most productive player at even strength and for a team that struggles to score thats huge to have.
I get that improving the blueline should help with the offense BUT a lot of the Jets forwards just can't score to save their life, a 2nd line of Perfetti/Monahan/Iafallo doesn't sound very good to me and can't see them putting Lambert on 2RW if Perfetti is on 2LW.

I can totally see the logic behind trading Ehlers for a dman cause that defense just doesn't measure up to that of true contenders but imo it just feels like they'd be filling one hole by digging another.

I just figure that if the Jets are trading Ehlers, it needs to fill a long term need. Yes, it creates a hole, but a wing hole is easier to fill than top 4 RHD or 2C.

In all likelihood though, Ehlers won't be traded.
