I'm glad I'm not the only one that believes an Ehlers for Chychrun trade makes sense!!

I like the addition of Knight as well.

Winnipeg has no need for one year of an LHD Chycrun, who won't extend in Winnipeg.

Given the seasons both of them just had I could see the sens needing to add a bit, but with both their contract situations it could make sense

I mean the same could be said of ehlers if he wont extend in ottawa, but id assume they both extend in this scenario

Maatta and Carrier as your second pairing is pretty awful.

oh yeah, admittedly there would be other ways to get another LD at that 2LD spot (buy out knight or just pay up for someone other than maata that fits the cap structure with Knight still), I was just too lazy to do more than that. Carrier is good though, I really like his fit as a t4 guy for us outside of this specific acgm

Then it just comes down to Chychrun being an LHD and not needed. If the Jets are spending one of their best trade chips they need to fill a hole at top 4 RHD or 2C.

I also highly doubt that if Chychrun won't extend in Ottawa that he will extend in Winnipeg sight unseen. He's likely angling to go to a US team.

Whereas Ehlers has never shown any signs of being an extension problem.

i dont think chychrun is at all angling to go to the US, hes just not a fit with our current roster makeup so the sens arent pushing to pay him so soon and hes felt that. As for roster fit, as an outside set of eyes, 2LD is definitely a weakness as of now. Samberg has long-term 2LD potential, but his ceiling is probably still lower than Chychruns imo. Could always re-sign Monahan at 2C as well. Im obviosuly not a jets fan, just my 2 cents

Yeah, but in either case he'll be looking for a nice raise that will probably be around or more than what Morrissey is getting. Which is too much for a 2nd pairing guy.

Plus the Jets really need to concentrate on filling actual holes if they are moving one of their best trade chips. They can't continue to try and force square pegs in round holes, as they are currently doing.

Chychrun would be a fine pickup, just not at the cost of Ehlers.

I think thats more of a bump as to how good of a deal morrisey is on to be fair. Just spitballing, what about something around norris with a bit of retention for Ehlers. Injury concern on Norris is probably keeping his trade value down but his upside if he stays healthy could make him a worthwhile add at 2C. Sens could take back a bit of money too like schmidt for the 1 year

I might be silly, but I like Norris. I guess that would depend on what the Jets think of his injury risk paired with his contract. But that's the kind of deal (young player that fills a need with term on a contract) that I believe Winnipeg would be looking for.

Chabot is nice, but Florida has no need all the junk so they’d decline
