Necas will probably get 7,5-8M a year. Also not sure about the value of his RFA rights but I don't think that trade lands him either as a lot of teams will be interested.

Necas won’t get that kind of money. He is a 55-60 pts winger who has one 70 pts season. The trade is also pretty fair value and arguably an overpay if we take the closest comparison, wich is Fiala

Why would Necas get 7.5-8 mil, he has a career average of 55 points per season, one oitlier 70 point season does not warrant that much money. He will likely come in around Anderson, Kreider and E. Kane (5.2-6.5 range) any thing more than that and its a huge mistake.

His stats are better than Caufield's, so yeah he's gonna make that kind of money. After all, his next contract being too expensive is the only reason Carolina would want to trade him away. If they could sign him for $5M AAV, they would just keep him to contend.

As for trade value, a top 20 pick + would be the market's value (like Fiala). This isn't it.

What stats are better than Caufield's?

PPG? CC = .727 MN = .671
G/GP CC = 0.4 MN = 0.28
A/GP CC = 0.33 MN = 0.40

The differences translates to
CC /82GP G = 33, A = 27, P = 59.6
MN /82GP G = 23, A = 33, P = 55.0

Personally, I would rather have the guy putting up 10 more goals and 4 more points a season than the guy putting up 6 more assists, but that is just me. Necas has had 0 season above 20 G and 0 seasons above 45 points in his first 3 seasons. Caufield has had 3 seasons above 20 goals and 1 season above 45 points, 2 above 25 goals and 1 above 50 points in 3 years. All this to say that when comping the first 3 years of both players, Caufield is ahead at the same age and its not even close.

Canes aren’t doing that. Canes are already quite overloaded at LW, and the logjam gets worse if/when they re-sign Guentzel. Tuch, at the very least would have to beat out Guentzel, Svechnikov, Nadeau, Trikozov, and a couple of others to even get a chance at LW. RW isn’t too far behind. Dvorak is worse than KK, and Harris isn’t worth anything to the Canes, and the 1st is late.

Here’s a thought, if you are going to attempt to offer futures for Necas (something the Canes don’t want a the primary return), start with a 1st that is 13OA or better, and with the 2024-26 drafts, it would more than likely have to be a top 10 pick with these classes looking a lot like a crap show. Start there and keep adding. Fiala is the closest comp, but that was buying off a retooling Wild team. Necas is currently on a contender. It’s going to be a lot more expensive.
