Coleman would probably be a good fit on any team, but he's too expensive for Vegas. Why are you paying two UFA centers to come play on the wings?

With all of the forward UFAs on vegas (Marchessault, Stephenson, Mantha) I can see VGK willing to pay for Coleman. As for the signings, they're able to play center and wing, and in theory one of them can switch out with Zary. (I really want Monahan back)

The issue is it's been reported that Rossi is only available for some form of lateral move from an age/upside pov. Sharangovich has less upside and he's 3 years older.

The other problem is you're using 2024 picks to make the deal but saying Sharangovich has an extension, Sharangovich isn't eligible to sign an extension until after the draft.

There's nothing wrong with the value, in theory, in a vacuum, it's just not what the Wild are reportedly looking for to make Rossi available in the first place.

Make it a 2025 2nd and its a deal, I think the Isles are looking to move their 2024 1st so they probably don't want to go 3 rounds without a pick

I'm still curious about your Rossi offer earlier. Think it was like Zary, Mangiapane, Hanley, 2 4ths for Rossi, Merrill?

I ask because Rossi for Zary+ is something I think would actually appeal to the Wild, but Mangiapane seems like a massive plus, even if he is a little overpaid.

They wouldn't do it for Pelletier, but Zary is intriguing. Flames ideally get a center with higher offensive upside, Wild get a guy who's maybe a little more suited to 3C than Rossi would be. Flames add a bit.

What is Mangiapane's deal though, why would you guys move him?

That's normal, if nobody is yelling at you you're selling too low. Too many people around here will yell about any trade that isn't highway robbery for their team.

Once you block most of the worst homers it's not so bad. wink

We have a lot of wingers in huberdeau, kuzmenko, coleman, zary and we are retooling so it would be nice to get a younger player or a pick.

I'd argue it is fairly lateral, but you're right about the whole draft pick extension thing.

I would prefer to keep him, but he's a UFA and we have way too many wingers.

Underperfoming slightly and we need the roster spot to make room for Coronato and Pelletier

I loved Monohan too, but I'm not sure he would want to come back. It's quite a different team from the one he left. Vegas only has 6 million in cap space, so I can't see them wanting to spend 5 of that on Coleman, and Hague is on a great deal for them.

Future considerations.

Seriously Rossi is worth a fair bit but Calgary already has lot of smaller middle 6 forwards / prospects who project to be more the same and especially left shots. So many it's a problem now, we really shouldn't be adding even more. Rossi is basically a younger version of Andrew Mangiapane and we're talking about moving Mangi a lot now. I doubt you'd do Rossi for Mangi+ either.

I guess retention would need to be involved. I do think that Monahan would come back, but idk i guess

i would not call him middle 6, and with Sharky, Zary or a similar piece going back it would cancel out

We gave him away with a first round pick attached, I'd be pretty insulted if it was me.

I wouldn't trade Sharky or Zary for yet another undersized left shot forward.
