Crazy Contract for Kane

Team: 2024-25 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 16, 2024
Published: May 16, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Give Patrick Kane an NMC (Pay him 7,000,000$ in Signing Bonuses and 850,000$ in Base Salary)
A. Caufield gets to play with and learn from his childhood idol. (And we finally get two sharp-shooters!)
B. Kane can mentor Slafkovsky (both former 1st overall picks). Slaf should play 80% of the time on the first line, and Kane can also play on the first line with Nicole the other 20% of the time.
C. Kane can play again with Dach and help him develop further. (Kane doesn't have to be as defensively as responsible because Dvorak is on the 2nd line LW. Dach and Dvorak have also bonded both having being injured for so long last season, hoping to see their chemistry flourish. Let's not forget, Dvorak has 2nd line talent in him still, having played with Marner and Tkachuk in his youth. After joining the NHL the talent around him has been ever-rotating, inconsistent and subpar to say the least.)
D. The 1st power play unit would be out of this world, and Slafkovsky should get opportunity to practice taking face-offs when Suzuki is on his weak side.

Keep the 3rd line steady!!! Gallagher really needs a stable line to produce! This line was productive in the latter part of last season, filling in as a 2nd line due to injury decimation. Would love to see this trio anchor down the third line.

That fourth line, has a chip on their shoulders. Do not count them out. Depth scoring is important, and Holmström had 5 short-handed-goals with a total of 7 short-handed-points. When a goal is scored short-handed it can change the energy of the entire game.

1st pair, you must keep as it was last year. Matheson was very decent overall, and people need to stop whining. Mike Matheson was third on the team in terms of total points, with 62 as a defenseman. That is beyond solid production!

2nd pair, Lane Hutson getting the veteran, stay at home defenseman, David Savard, as his partner is good for his development and allowing Hutson to flex his offensive skills.

3rd pair, I think we should rotate between, Kovacevic, Xhekaj, and Harris. Kovacevic should play around 45 games & Xhekaj and Harris should each play around 60 games (assuming all top-four defensemen can play 82 games.) I doubt it though, so Savard should be rested some games in my opinion, to see if Hutson can play with either Xhekaj or Harris, to test whether Hutson can be as defensively responsible with more offensive defensemen.

Goalies as is! Finally no more three-headed monster. Bless!

If kane wanted to waste the last few years of his career not making the playoffs he'd just go back to Chicago

That's why you give Kane the option to be traded at the deadline, if he wants out. The Habs get two different teams to retain, and Kane can go wherever he wants, since a 7m$ signing bonus is paid upfront, the other teams basically only have to handle significant cap of 3.925m and 1.9625m. I am sure some team would like to acquire Kane at the trade deadline for 1.9625m$ in cap hit, while only needing to pay him less than 200k in actual cash with so little actual remaining salary left to be paid on this one-year contract.

He has the same cap hit as Caufield.

Kane will not come to Montreal for a season. Unless you overpay. We are still very much so under the cap, and I believe Patrick would be good mentor for all

like here: https://blackngoldhockey.com/2023/11/bruins-should-steer-clear-of-patrick-kane/

"Patrick Kane has had no shortage of controversy in the past. Kane pled guilty to disorderly conduct in 2009 after physically assaulting a cab driver in Buffalo, NY. He was investigated for sexual assault in 2015, although the investigation never merited charges. These two incidents act as merely a prelude into perhaps Kane’s greatest sin, staying cowardly mum while teammate Kyle Beach (and now a second teammate) was sexually assaulted in 2010 by Chicago video coach Brad Aldrich. All these incidents make it abundantly clear that Kane has some serious character issues and carries a black cloud of controversy that just isn’t what this team needs."
