It’s going to cost you more than 15OA to acquire Trevor Zegras

My assumption is Boston won’t view Gibson highly enough to do this deal. Realize he’s a former second round pick, but he’s not the type of prospect I would put at second round value. I’m never 100% sure who Sweeney likes in the draft because he tends to focus on players who haven’t take the standard development route OR players he believes have overstated skill deficiencies. I’ve pointed to Buium, because of the Denver connection. Believe he would be enough with the second round pick

I don’t see them wanting Veleno. They have enough players with his profile that might not make the team

That's weak trade value for Zegras. A 15th pick has about a 40% chance of being a complete bust that never becomes an NHL regular.

Zegras just had the worst season of his career. Buy low opportunity for Detroit.

Yeah Detroit would probably be fine moving Buium instead of Gibson, just figured teams value RD more and they are both former 2nd round picks so I thought Gibson would have a bit more value.

What else is needed to get it done? Zegras value is at an all time low after his terrible injury riddled season.

They won't sell low and they don't have interest in trading him. Going to cost more than he's worth. We really shouldn't be in on him with what he will cost. Our team isn't there yet where we can trade a bunch of picks and prospects.
Vegas isn't going to trade Theodore. He provides too much value to them.
Washington isn't going to trade Dowd for Fabbri without gaining something. Also why is he buried? He's a really good fourth line centre.
Probably not the right pieces for Ullmark but maybe.
Having 4 rookies on the team is probably not a good idea.

Yes... In a world of Dallases and Torontos, your plan is to be more like Toronto.

Just because it's a buy low opportunity for Detroit doesn't make it a sell low motivation for Anaheim. Zegras isn't on the market, so it would take at least Nate Danielson and the pick to tempt Verbeek.

How is this team anything like the Leafs? This group has big mobile defenseman and a stud goalie. Also good depth up front. If anything they are more like Dallas then Toronto.

Dallas has a stable of U25 studs to supplement their prime players because they didn’t blow their wad and sell all their picks once their window opened.

Toronto sold pretty much every pick to bring guys in, have gone nowhere, and are going nowhere.

You are so delusional on Zegras value. Danielson has much more potential and his stock is WAY up after his WHL playoffs. 15OA in THIS draft could net you players like Cole Eiserman, Berkly Catton, Zayne Parekh, Michael Brandsegg-Nygård, Tij Iginla, Carter Yakemchuk. These are high ceiling top tier assets. Stop overvaluing Zegras and leave Danielson out of it Old Islanders Fan.

Then why would we trade him at his ‘all time low’ value

I wouldn’t do Danielson for Zegras straight up, to be honest.

Zegras obviously has more value as the proven commodity right now. I just see him better suited as a winger and I’m not a fan of his 200 foot game right now.

Whereas Danielson’s tailor made for a center role, was arguably 200 foot ready for the NHL this season, and has silenced a lot of his critics about his offensive potential in Portland.

That said, I get that Anaheim is gonna want a haul for the current face of their franchise, even if he’s not the top player on the team. And there’s really no incentive to sell him now after a bad luck season.

You lecturing him to stop overvaluing Zegras, a player you clearly haven't watched this season, while simultaneously being completely unwilling to consider parting with a B prospect for an established NHL top-six forward is legitimately hilarious, by the way.

Homer is as homer does.

I've never seen Danielson play but I've seen every single NHL game that Zegras has played, so I think I have a pretty fair idea of what his value is, which is squarely in line with what my fellow Ducks fans as well as several rational fans of other teams think.

It could, for example, be someone who could eventually turn into an $8.7 million first-line center.

But there's no guarantee, hence the need to hedge the bet.

And his worst season in the league is STILL worth more than the 15th pick in a not very deep draft.
