Neither team would say yes to that Flames trade IMO
Calgary can't risk it with only 1yr left on Rantanen and Colorado won't trade a top 3 Winger

i think the flames would be fine with that. they have the cap space to sign him (or they can retain and flip him if they want to tank) and he would be a big get for them, might help get huby going.

i don't think the avs would ever actually do that but for me ur getting solid pieces back and a lot of cap space.

it seems a bit lopsided for calgary still tbh but idk if that's just me being a homer...

I'm a Flames fan and I think the trade is lobsided in the Flames favor but, trading for one of the best forwards in the world and probably needing to flip him after 4-5months and almost for sure not getting full value makes no sense but, if he brings Huby back who knows hard to judge that's why I think neither team would take the risk

the flames could definitely afford to keep him with Mangiapane and Kuzmenko coming off the books (could also try to trade those 2 as well if they want to keep rants). i don't think either of those 2 would be due raises.

i tried to be fair and realistic with the trades and signings but yeah its hard to see the avs actually going for this and the fit isn't perfect for calgary either.

Flames could make him the highest paid player in the league but, do you think he'd want to stay? I'd think staying with Colorado and having a "sure" chance of winning is a more appealing prospect no?

Take out manson and make the 2nd rd pick into a 24 1st rd and that's a fair deal.

for sure rants would rather be in Colorado, but the avs need to add some depth and they might not even be able to afford to re -sign him anyways so that just is what it is.. (especially if landy comes back which i tried to plan for)

im not sure if he would would want to stay in Calgary but a big paycheck couldn't hurt.. also he would get to play with naz again so that might help.

like i said if that all fails u can definitely flip him and get a pretty good haul (maybe not "full value" but i would say at least a 1st + a good prospect or two, a package similar to if not better than Guentzel) especially if you have a sign and trade kind of situation

if the flames decide they want to tank and rebuild that might even be the better strategy.

that would work value wise but the avs would have to find a way to move mason still cuz they would be over the cap at that point.

im sure they could find someone else to take him though.
