WAY too much for Kovacevic, you might get a 5th, but he's not worth a 3rd

Habs received a 3rd for Edmundsson last off-season. He's a serviceable player that fits any playoff team. He's big and has an ideal cap hit. I don't think asking for a 3rd/4th is unreasonable.

Habs got Alex Newhook last year for similar value. What do you think Kakko's value is right now?

Doesn’t matter what his value is lol Rangers need cheap RWs over useless picks

Makes sense. I don't think Lindstrom plays in the NHL next season tho.

Edmundson at least offered Stanley Cup experience, Kovacevic doesn't...

Nobody is giving you a 2nd for Barron, he'll be free on waivers

With his lost junior time you're probably right. If they pick Lindstrom I can see them looking at Slafkovsky's trajectory and trying to aclimate him to the NHL right away.

Well he's not going to make your starting lineup so where's he gonna go?

Not to mention, Avs moved him because they went after Ross Colton

Drury didn’t even want to trade Kakko for guentzel

That's a fair argument. I just think that the size, contract, preferred handedness makes Kovacevic attractive enough for somebody to flip a 3rd/4th for him. Especially a cap-strapped team. Better than overpaying for a bottom 6 D on the market.

That's an overpayment in cap, this is an overpayment in assets. On a one year deal on someone like Tony DeAngelo, just as an example, I'm not comparing them in any way. TDA's deal would expire in a year where you'd never get the asset back. It's why it's always better to go get depth D men on the market

Either Harris or Barron will be flipped for a 2nd rounder like in the above scenario.

Still, every year, we see players moved in the offseason for 3rd and 4th round picks even though there are comparable players in free agency. If pro scouts like a player, and feel like he's an ideal fit for the team, teams do it.

Huh? Neither of those players are worth a 2nd. That's the entire point I'm making. If no one offers you a 2nd for either player then what? You keep them right? Well then Barron doesn't make your starting roster so what happens to him?

Do you think Rangers could do something similar this off-season? Go find someone like Colton who is available and flip Kakko for them? Or are you adamant about holding Kakko and giving him 1-2 more years to prove it.

Kakko is exactly what the rangers need. They don’t need him to be a point per game player because they already have Panarin, Laffy, Kreider, Mika and trocheck producing

Huh? You don't think that one of those players is worth a 2nd across the NHL? Good thing you have that intel LOL. Harris especially profiles extremely well analytically.

Hopefully they are able to resign him this offseason, good luck with this playoff run!

Or when teams are against the cap, gunning for the playoffs, and choose to sacrifice draft assets in order to get a low AAV player.

Why wouldn’t they? lol they can easily give Kakko the contract you gave him but Kakko wouldn’t accept 4 years that cheap
