That’s not even close for Reinhart.

I bet he walks - after the Nylander deal that’s probably his asking price and Florida can’t come anywhere near it. I’d be shocked if he’s anything less than $9.5 but this is far too low

According to CapFriendly's income tax calculator, 9M a year would leave Reinhart with roughly the same net income as Nylander. Other factors, such as a winning team, weather, term and role in the team (barkov), should also bring the AAV down.

This seems fairly reasonable, doubt he is getting more than Tkachuk

If he was getting less than Tkachuk I think it’d be done already. There’s no reason to drag that on. $9.5m seems like the bottom end

IDK, man. A lot of players wait until June to extend their contracts. Stammer did it and might do it again. I don't think Reinhart can get too much more money elsewhere provided that Florida has no income tax and is the only team that can offer him 8 years. I guess we will just have to wait and see

I think Reinhart's AAV almost certainly starts with a 9. If he gets to UFA it's probably 10.5 to 11, but the 8th year + no income tax keeps it around 9.5 if I had to guess.

He had almost 60 goals and was 4th in Selke voting.. I think he absolutely gets more than $8.8m

Sure, but 9M in Florida is the equivalent of 10,25M moneywise in, say, New York. Over 11,3M in Toronto

Not every player takes discounts. Just because he signs $9m now with Florida doesn’t mean he’s not traded 2 years into the deal to say Anaheim where the taxes are higher and then he just screwed himself of more money.

That's what an NMC would be for.

Teams can get players to waive those easier than you think
