They aren't going to go out of their way to get their "guys". You can predict that Treliving will get guys that fit the mould of the type of players he and Berube like. Tarasenko could be added if they think they need him, but maybe he won't have any interest. If Buchnevich was available as a rental and the Leafs needed a top 6F then perhaps they get him. We know well that Treliving would pursue Zadorov. Tanev would likely be a worst-case scenario if they miss on Pesce. I don't think either guy will make it to free agency unless Zadorov wants to test free agency (probably means he'll be too expensive) or Tanev decides he wants to go elsewhere.

I highly doubt the blues and Marner will reach an agreement. It would require to do a complete 180 on his previous contract negotiations

That Marner contract will be extremely difficult to move. Nobody can afford to pay that kind of money for a player who routinely disappears in the playoffs. It's the exact reason TOR wants to ditch him. The Blues certainly don't need another a Charmin-soft perimeter dandy. They already have Kyrou.

The bright side, for TOR fans: because of Kyrou, you guys now have Chief.

Kyrou played a big part of it, he was the first guy to check out from Chief’s message.

Yea sure. Hey man whatever helps you sleep at night. But in reality if you watched the games you could see how much work Kyrou put in this year. Especially on the defensive side. He had amazing defensive stats.

Also unfortunately berube did it to himself. I do think the trigger was pulled very early on him but he refused to adapt to the team. He had a process and when that didn’t work he made zero attempt to change it. It’s unfortunate but in hockey it’s adapt or die

He was slightly better than the 22-23 season but he was still slow on his back checks, dragging his stick when he takes a line change. He’s just like Marner and Mike Hoffman, not much defense, and when he’s in an offensive slump he worthless, 20 min. TOI skating laps. He popped off in March but he’s not consistent enough to be worth $8mill a year. In his prime he should be a 45-55G player with Thomas setting him up.

You seriously did not watch the games then. He was hustling every play. And his stats back that up too! He was in the top like 20% in defense this year (forwards)

Hustling every play 😂 I watched him plenty this year, when I went to my 8 games I focused on him, I wasn’t impressed to much. He’s paid to be a goal scorer. 4 goals in his first 24 games isn’t acceptable. In terms of goal scoring droughts of 1+ games, he had 17 this year, including four 4 game droughts, one 6 gamer, two 7 gamers, and a wonderful 10 game goal drought. If he was consistent he would’ve scored 15-20 more goals. If he plays like he did the last 2 months of the season I’ll get off his back.
