Honestly makes total sense for Carolina, why keep a strong top 6 forward and a high draft pick when you could pay a below league average goalie over 20 million dollars for the next 4 years!

Jarry is not a below average goalie, but yeah this deal is bad. No chance in hell CAR does it.

Out of goalies who played a minimum 20GP this season, Jarry ranked 35th in GAA (2.91) and t-36th in SV% (.903). Last season, Jarry ranked 29th in GAA (2.90) and 20th in SV% (.910). While he is certainly not atrocious, it's hard to argue that he's not below league average for starting goalies.

Cherry picking stats from only the last two seasons, (conveniently the two where PIT as a team has been its worst in decades and Jarry has battled through injury) of goalies that played a minimum of only 20 games (as if that’s the proper minimum metric?) is hilarious. I mean come on, 20 games? As if backups getting easy matchups for 20 games is even close to the workload of a starter on a very average team. Employ some common sense, man. Getting those outrageously specific and nit picked rankings wrong is even funnier. Jarry is not a below average goalie. If you want to argue that he isn’t an above average starter then you might have a semblance of a case, but he is not below average. It’s fair to at least consider him an average starting goalie.

How about you look at where jarry was pre team collapse right around the end of the all star break/leading up to the TDL. He was consistently a top 10 goalie in GSAxbefore the team collapsed in front of him. But i can totally agree that trade is atrocious, ngl it would be pretty bad 1 for 1, jarry has some sort of value, but it’s not any sort of insane value.

Why in the world would we pay debrusk 5.75m when his production is slightly worse then smiths, i get he had a good playoffs, but NTY. Not only that but youre paying way less to monahan who plays the more important position and has way better production.

"cherry picking stats" I'm literally using the two universal metrics of goalie performance, you want me to pull up his advanced analytics from peewee to justify Jarry making 5M? Last time I checked we judge goalies on how they play recently, not on how good they used to be... that's like if Leafs fans were calling Matt Murray an above average goalie because he won 2 cups 6 years ago...

Canes pass. Jarry isn’t worth moving Necas for

And adding as well.

I wouldn't think CAR takes this deal but Jarry definitely isn't a below average goalie.

Over the last 3 seasons, for goalies that have played 3000+ minutes, he's 14th in save%(tied with Vasilevskiy) and 11th in GSAA(right behind Vasilevskiy). And he's had a below average team in front of him defensively. He'd probably win a Vezina behind the Canes defense haha
