That contract isn't good. Sabres aren't spending good assets for it.

I feel like ur overvaluing our prospects. That contract is actually quite good given his defensive abilities and decent offensive contributions. I'm doing this personally, we've got to start trying to win eventually

He makes too much it’s why they traded Mittelstadt and he’s a lot better than Cirelli.

The contract is not good for a 3rd line forward. Why should we pay top dollar for it?

They traded Mittelstadt bc Adams was eyeing a top 4 defenseman and for better or worse, Byram was a guy he had wanted for a long time. His eventual contract may have played a role, but Cirelli gives you everything you could possibly want from a 3C and for a pretty reasonable acquisition price in this scenario

If you think Kulich and Krebs is top dollar I'm not rly sure how you expect them to get guys who can help them win now. Trading one high end prospect won't doom the team. Cirelli can also play 2nd line center if Cozens continues to struggle

Cirelli is a good player
But he’s overpaid for a 3rd liner
And underperforms offensively for a 2nd liner

That’s not a guy to invest in

Meh still doing it for the price he proposed

We need to actually go get good players for once, can't hope for absolutely perfect circumstances every time

See if they'll retain $1 Million if you add a bit more

It doesn't matter that we have a bunch of good prospects. Overpaying for a player with a bad contract is not good.

I don’t agree
With all the young talent the Sabres have and (presumably) want to keep long term,
the absolute last thing they should do is bring in overpaid players

Hell, half the ACGMs on here from Sabres fans are about trying desperately to trade away Skinner, even though we all know it’s not happening

U guys can find a good defensive 3C for much cheaper,
in assets it costs to get him & Cap space u have to use

If you don't like Cirelli that's fine, all I'm saying is if they make guys like Krebs untouchable don't be shocked when they roll into next season with like Kevin Hayes or Radek Faksa as their 3C

This is a guy who regularly gets selke votes. So its not just some solid 3rd line centre.

You also have to bear in mind that as the cap sees larger year over year jumps, the price for players of this caliber will continue to rise, especially at a premium position like Centre. Odds are they are going to have to pay a 3C this kind of money anyways. May as well do it for someone in their 20s who has already had a good chunk of his salary paid out in the form of bonuses.

The assets given up here is an overpay, but the Sabres aren't going to do better than this. Anyone who is better has a full no move.

If you include Kulich, they are retaining money on cirelli

U don’t need a Selke 3C any more than u need an all-star partner for Dahlin or Power
Talent isn’t the Sabres issue

U can bring in the right players to fill roles u need covered without overpaying for things like “Selke votes”
