Unlikely to move Cernak but

Created by: Brolekb2b

Description
The McDonagh move complicates things for TB; even if Stamkos signs a 5.75M deal, that doesn't even leave enough space on the roster for a league minimum contract.

Long story short: move Cernak and preserve the majority of the roster while developing some youth like Duke, Lilleberg and Crozier

Trades
TBL
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (UTA)
  2. 2025 2nd round pick (UTA)
Additional Details:
With the amount of picks in the first 3 rounds I don't think Utah/AZ would mind adding a top 4 piece like Cernak to the team. Now with committed ownership adding a defensive minded piece like Cernak with term would help get them going.
UTA
  1. Cernak, Erik
Additional Details:
Cernak most likely won't get traded after the draft with his NTC kicks in, but when you consider Cooper might play Sergachev on the right side (with Mac or not), Lilleberg being an NHL regular 3LD and Cooper's desire to have Crozier up on the roster Cernak might appear as the odd man out. To preserve the rest of the core, he might get flipped for early assets in the draft TB can either use to make selections or flip at the deadline for more additions.

Utah now has an ownership that appears committed to spend, adding Cernak (retaining his role as a top 4 D-man) with no NHL level defensemen under contract will allow guys like Moser and Durzi to play a more offense oriented game.

Yeah, biggest issue. Can't move either of Tony or Cernak because either you cripple the RD or you cripple a top 6 forward group missing a top 6 forward. Rough decisions upcoming after adding Mac

100%. Now with the possibility of Sergy playing on the right side you've got to wonder what it means for the other guys. I know Cooper wanted Croz up full time playing with Lilleberg, would love to see more of that this year ngl

yea I dont mind it but then there's Raddysh too and Brisebois said they have a solidified top 4 with included cernak so idk if that means cirelli would move or they just try to get rid of Jeannot/sheary/perbix

Exactly. Something's coming around draft day and it's definitely going to be huge for us

Any interest in a Cernak/Ehlers swap with picks going WPG’s way?

Don't exactly have the luxury of trading too many picks as of late and would probably have to move another piece or two outside of a Sheary buyout to make him fit along with Stamkos. Do like Ehlers though
