It's going to cost one of Evangelista, Tomasino, and L'Heureux for Necas.

Carrier is going to cost more to re-sign.

CAR is getting way too much for Necas, and Necas is getting paid way too much on that new contract.

I think a 2nd and Tomasino is about as high as you are going to get from the Preds. Canes are sitting at $27.35m in available cap space. Between Jarvis and Guentzel thats going to eat up $15-16m of it so lets call it $15m cause they are team friendly, leaving $12.35 for Teravinen, Martinook, Drury, Nosen, DeAngelo, and Skjei or their respective replacements. How are the Canes doing that and having any money for Necas? Everyone knows that Necas is the odd one out and the Canes are not in a position of power as a result. The proposed trade is already a massive overpay given the situation.

Canes due to the conditions of the trade are only out a 2nd rounder (44 OA) on the Guentzel trade. If you resign him and get a 2nd rounder and any mid lever prospect for Necas you have esentially upgraded Necas for Guentzel with probably a slight move down in the 2nd round and maybe you get a prospect out of it.

Tomasino is going to need a 1st coming with him. Carolina have the space to keep all four of Necas, Jarvis, Guentzel, Pesce. Replacing TDA with Morrow is a simple decision, replacing Martinook and Noesen with Blake and Nadeau is pretty simple. The only painful loss would be Teuvo, but Carolina would still have the space to make that signing if they wanted to. Carolina don't need to worry about Skjei because of Orlov. So cap space doesn't come into this.

Necas is going to need a 1st and a young forward to start a conversation. That's just the long and short of it. Carolina hold all the cards in a Necas deal

Ok so Canes are still at $12.35 after signing Guentzel and Jarvis to a combined $15m AAV which is likely on the low end which puts you at just 11 signed forwards and 5 defenseman. You need to sign/roster 3 more forwards and 2 defenseman assuming that Necas is one forward and there is another $7m so you're down to $5.35 and Pesce isn't getting less than $4m leaving $1.35m with 3 players left to sign. It just can't be done my guy.

Guentzel at $8m, Jarvis at $7m, and Pesce at $4m are all very team friendly deals. There is just no way you can sign Necas plus 3 other guys with the remaining $8.35m. League minimum is $750k so if you get 3 guys on league minimum that leaves $6.15m for Necas which is extremely team friendly. You really think all of that happens and that the Canes really hold the cards? It's Guentzel or Necas but there is almost no chance of having both.

Why the hell would Jarvis sign for 7 mill? He'll get 5 on a bridge. Necas has arb rights which would open up a buyout window anyway, so it doesn't need to be done. You're also forgetting that a lot of the "signed players" that are on the roster right now just won't be there to start next season. Seeley for example. Nikishin coming over on his ELC means Carolina can ice Slavin - Morrow Nikishin - Orlov - whoever and Burns, or they can move Burns and keep Pesce. They have the cap space to reain everyone, regardless of how you want to try and spin this

Why would Jarvis sign for $5m? I'm gonna use Pasta as a comparable who scored 34-36-70 in 16-17 (final year of his ELC) as compared to Jarvis this year at 33-34-67. Nearly identical numbers in the final year of their ELC. Pasta signed a 6x$6.66 deal that took him to UFA that was 8.89% of the cap at the time. Based on the cap increases 8.89% comes out to $7.8m on the $87.7 cap, so a $7m bridge would be the team friendly deal. No chance he accepts $5m AAV regardless of the term on it.

6 mill on 6 years. He's not getting more than 5 on a bridge deal. Why would Carolina go above that? Look at the Necas bridge deal as a much better comparison. No chance it's more than 5.5 tops

Necas scored 14-26-40 the final year of his ELC which slid 2 years he was 23 when it ended. Jarvis scored 14-25-39 as a 21 year old the season before last. Jarvis is 2 full years ahead of Necas developmentally and is more sound on the defensive end, they are not comparable.

They are, Jarvis' bulk production came at the end riding the coat tails of Aho and Guentzel. His 67 point season is incredibly misleading. He's also developing a MUCH larger injury resume than Necas (playing with a torn rotator cuff all season, and a broken finger) compared to Necas. He's much more risky to pay, which is why you bridge him for around 5. Let him prove he can stay healthy before giving him big bucks

I understand what you are saying but I still don't agree. I'll take the over on $5m AAV.
