ARI
  1. Jokiharju, Henri [RFA Rights]
BUF
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (FLA)
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Is this enough? Too much? Or exactly right?
2.
ARI
  1. Necas, Martin [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
What the Canes get: while they do get older from Necas to Schmaltz(Schmaltz is 2 years older than Necas), they make it up with Hayton who's a tiny bit younger than Necas, and they also get a 2nd round pick.

What Utah gets: they get a younger player who would be a better fit for their window, but since they get the younger player, they compensate with Hayton(which would also give him a fresh start) and a 2nd round pick (mind you, this is a pick from the Oilers, meaning it'll be pretty late in the 2nd in 2025).
CAR
  1. Schmaltz, Nick
  2. 2025 2nd round pick (EDM)

Might be a spot for lindholm/montour/dillon/tanev. Might be a little bit of a costly adventure, but a couple key cogs going forward and a couple key vets to teach the kids. I like that necas upgrade.

I don't these the players you listed a necessary tbh...

Montour/Tanev are top 4 d-men who would want long term deals, which would, IMO, hinder the development of one of the most underrated prospects in the whole league right now IMO, Maveric Lamoureux. In this AGM, Jokiharju serves as a placeholder for until Lamoureux is ready to play top 4 RD minutes. When that happens, their D will look like this:

Moser-Durzi
Skjei-Lamoureux
Valimaki-Jokirarju

As for the veteran leadership, well I completely agree with you, and this is why I added the likes of Skjei and Monahan

Tanev and Dillon being that age of 34/35 probably limited to 2 maybe 3 year deals, ya I went through it, probably overkill, Montour probably reaching that 6x8 so ya overpay too. Like lindholm a little more than monahan, but 3 years of monahan probably better than 5/6 years if lindholm. Would love a Hayton upgrade to give Cooley a running mate, possibly a move from 6 to 2 in draft or something, find that best center in the draft or some bargain out there, was thinking Shane wright til his nasty playoff injury. Enjoy the chat, thanks for the insight.

I think Joker's a little underrated. Sabreland really bags on him but he's a pretty solid 4/5 d-man who has often played well while playing off of Dahlin on the top-pairing.

If the Sabres do trade him, which is a question mark at this time, I think a 2nd and a 3rd for a 24 yr. old RHD who's just entering his prime isn't a crazy overpay at all.
