What’s the point of Cirelli? He’s overpaid hasn’t had 40 points in back to back years. I get he’s great defensively, but with a low budget Sabres team spending 6 million dollars on a player that doesn’t score at a high end level is not worth it.

The point?

To add a champion who is a 2 way monster. Who is still 26 years old and will likely see an uptick in counting numbers without having 42% o zone starts.

He’d still get mostly D zone starts here,
and is absolutely not a “2 way” monster

He does nothing offensively that even comes close to qualifying him that way

Cirelli doesn’t produce enough offense to be paid like a 2nd liner and we can find cheaper defensive forwards

It’s a bad idea
And Tampa likely doesn’t trade their 2C anyways

I like how you say he's not a 2nd liner and then refer to him as a 2C

Girgensons was the Sabres 1C at one point
Doesn’t mean he should’ve been

Cirelli isn’t a 2way monster
He’s a good defensive center, but offensively he’s 3rd line quality- and he’s paid too much for what he does

U can find a defensive Center cheaper

Sabres are already overpaying Skinner & don’t need to compound their error any further
It’s a bad idea
