Carolina doesn't want Palmieri, they'd be better off bringing one of their guys back. It's also not enough. Necas probably costs us a 1st, a 2nd, and 2 prospects. Even then Carolina probably says no because other teams can offer more

That’s the thing tho, Carolina can’t just keep Necas. They either gotta trade him or pay him a similar deal which they don’t want to cause they’d rather keep Guentzel. The Canes don’t have much leverage although they might be able to get a better package

You sure? They can’t QO him and go to arb if he doesn’t accept it? Sure, he can make a stink about it and potentially sit out which hurts team and player but I think the player is hurt way more in that scenario. The worst case is he comes back on a 1-2 year deal at 5-6M which they can easily fit in after Guentzel and Jarvis 8ish M deals.

Yea that’s a possibility but idk if Carolina would wanna run that risk with Necas especially since he wants a 1st line role. I honestly don’t see this scenario not ending in a trade. Plus Guentzel could be easily get up to 10 mil on the open market so idk if he’d take that big of a pay cut. And that doesn’t factor in paying for your defense either but Nikishin coming over would help

They’ll likely trade him but my point is it’s on the teams terms, not his. Worst case he comes back on a short term deal and they trade him later.
