I’m not sure if Tampa bites on that trade but I like it. I’d trade provorov for picks instead of adding Necas. I don’t think the jackets can afford him long term. This also allows them to draft silayev who should be NHL ready when dillons contract runs out

I don't like the idea of trading for Cirelli with Sillinger here, and I'd rather have the cheaper, younger Sillinger. Cirelli is elite defensively, but he's a 3rd-line shutdown guy making too much money for too long. Sillinger on the 4th line is a waste when Kuraly fills that role now and LDBB fills that role later. I think adding Cirelli at the expense of Marchenko, who we need more, is also a waste.

I'm fine with the Necas trade, and that's the kind of trade we should be looking for, but Carolina might not bite.

I do like the Dillon signing, and if we add Silayev at 4OA that's an elite left side in 3-4 years.

They don't couple reasons
A) They were 5 in GF 23 in GA Goal prevention was Brisebois stated objective this off season. This doesn't aid that.
B) TB organizational philosophy doesn't do undersized defensemen.

Interesting from a Tampa perspective. I think Marchenko has a level he hasn't hit yet. He has real breakout potential.

i like sillinger a lot but cirelli is significantly better. and having multiple guys who can fill a shutdown role is a good thing when you also have young guys like fantilli and johnson who need to be sheltered. plus, injuries happen and there could be a strong market for a jenner trade within the next year.

we need established centers (currently just jenner, who is a great #3 center) a lot more than we need young wingers (long list)

Canes dont need wingers. Nadeau, Unger Sorum, and Blake are all options from the system. Need defenseman and a right shot center.

I think we're going to hit the "agree to disagree" point, but I will say: Sillinger is only 21, and he's got 220 games of NHL experience. He really started to look like a Cirelli-type by the end of last year, but Cirelli is nearing peak potential (which appears to be a 2nd-3rd line shutdown center with a scoring touch), while Sillinger is 4-5 years from even reaching his prime. I think Sillinger could push to be a good, well-rounded 2C, while Cirelli is probably best suited for a 3C role on a contender. I just think it's a little short-sighted, and a steep price for someone who's redundant (even if you think Marchenko is redundant/expendable, there's better ways to use him as a trade chip IMO).

I will say...a center depth of Fantilli, Sillinger, Cirelli, Jenner, Voronkov, LDBB long-term would be insane, though.
