CBJ is far better off holding onto laine until the trade deadline and seeing if he bounces back. a healthy, in-form laine at 50% ($4.3m) for 1.5 years is an insanely good asset. trading him now at his lowest value would be foolish.

Automatically a no from the jackets by including Anderson. We arent taking him back and he doesnt want to come back. Harris also doesnt move the needle much and isnt of much interest. On top of that the only way it would make sense to move Laine this offseason is if he requested a trade after returning from player assistance.

you guys can talk about this on hf all you want. columbus has no pressure to move laine at the nadir of his value, and certainly isn’t interested in taking your dumps in the process.

The sjs-mtl trade is catastrophic. When you think about it, the Calgary choice is a top-8

Let me guess...this trade showed up on that one MTL Canadiens fan-cast that called that one trade that one time and keeps insisting the rest of the league should feel honored to want to trade for Anderson?

no just laines value is really low right now and his cap hit is really high for the next 2 years and because of that if columbus wants to trade him they wont get much back and to make the money work theyd have to take anderson

Hawks aren't paying anything for Dvorak. Habs attach a 2nd to move him to Chicago.

It costs a lot more than that just to dump Anderson and return nothing.

Dvorak isn't close to worth his contract. Hawks will have far better trade options than this and they can always sign guys as free agents and keep their picks. Easy pass for the Hawks.

Penguins have the younger and cheaper Jack St. Ivany to fill the 3RD spot.

If this is at the trade deadline and the pens are in the playoff hunt and have the cap space, it’s not a bad trade

If Savard is playing anything resembling competent hockey throughout the first half of the season you could probably get a 2nd round pick out of a team looking to make a run.

Take out Laine and Columbus still says no.
Dvorak makes 5.75M next season, good luck finding a team willing to pay for him when he makes more than his cap hit. Also, he just had surgery, no team is paying assets for him until he plays again and all of a sudden becomes worth his cap hit. Also, he is technically in injured reserve I believe, I don't believe you can trade a player on IR.
Good luck dumping Gallagher for that cheap, maybe a team bites.
Also why are you paying to dump cap when you have over 16M in cap space? Makes zero sense.
The offer sheet is funny too cause Montreal doesn't make the playoffs and likely finishes around the same spot next year with this team. You are sending Carolina two lottery picks for a guy you could probably get with that package you send to San Jose plus something else attached.

LOL, you think Dvorak will be the only option available to them?

There will be a dozen teams looking to move players for cap space and the Hawks can be very selective on the player and deal they accept. Additionally, there will be better players available in free agency.

Montreal sends a 2nd round pick along with Dvorak or they can find some other sucker.

A lot of teams "need" someone to play on their team. Doesn't mean we are paying for Montreal's garbage. At that cap hit, he is a negative asset. But if MTL can find a team willing to pay for him, more power to them. I wouldn't put it past Kent Hughes to get positive value for a negative asset, he's made crazier moves. It just won't be CHI.

MTL and TOR fans are both obsessed with the idea that other teams are going to give up something to take their terrible players with terrible contracts. Sorry guys, the other 30 GMs don't sit around wondering "How can we help the Habs and Leafs today??"

savard trade isn't bad, and I like the player.
But with them resigning Ivany, their defense is set.

That's not an indicator that you'll get him for cheap; it's an indicator that we're not going to trade him at all.
