How are you going to draft Levshunov at #5 when there is like a less than 1% chance he falls past #3?

Cause some podcaster proposed it, and this proposal was relayed by a brunch of clickbait websites.

Well Columbus doesn't really need him but if he falls to 4 for some unknown reason (which is very unlikely) they probably take him

The only RD we have in the system that has top-4 potential is Jiricek. Severson and Gudbranson are the other long-term options (puke).

If Levshunov falls to 4OA for any reason, you can bet your life savings he's not getting to 5OA.

Again, not arguing they take him. Just don't see him as anything more than BPA. He's better than Ceulemans but Severson and Jiricek are prob your long term options at 1 and 2 RD

I think he's both need and BPA if he gets to 4OA. Ceulemans has struggled and Severson will be 32-34 by the time this team is ready to compete. I'm thinking 4-10 years from now long-term.

Do you really not think they will be ready to compete until 26/27? I guess it depends on what they do this summer but I would not be surprised if they are a bubble team next year

We are used to disappointment and very gunshy at this point.

Fair, I was wrong about Columbus this year so like with Boston I'll probably be wrong about them next year too

I really don't know. I mean, Severson will be 30 by the start of next season, so 32 by 26/27. I think that's the earliest window to truly compete. We're the 2nd-youngest team in the league...the 4OA pick this year likely won't even be an NHL regular/contributor until then.

I'd expect like a 7-10th worst finish this year, a slow build, pushing for the wildcard (but missing) in 2025-26, then pushing for a divisional spot 2026-27. The new core (Fantilli, Jiricek, Sillinger, 4OA, Brindley, Voronkov, Marchenko, Chinakhov, Sillinger) would only be anywhere from 22-26 years old by then. Werenski and Laine would be 29.

If we build right, this team could legitimately have an 8-15 year window. Why rush it?
