Kinda weird to do before the draft, but anything to rebuild the prospect pool

I think its fair

Blackhawks trade up and Isles get an extra pick.

Wouldn't shock me if Lou is active this summer based off what we have seen so far

Easy W for New York. Weird that Chicago did this so early. Lou pretty much got a free 2nd.

I wonder if Chicago is trying to move up further or if its simply their Top Prospects list ends at #18...

Anyone debating over whether the 23rd pick can become 2 mid 2nds and an early 3rd:

According to the Puckpedia draft pick value calculator, the New York Islanders win the trade.

https://puckpedia.com/pickvalue

Before doing something like this ever again, I recommend that Chicago show some patience and wait until the draft is actually underway.

I would not have made this trade until it is the Isles' turn to pick at #18 and I got to see who the BPA is at #18.

Is it that...or maybe they don't think post #50...there's much to get? Makes it easier to trade #61?

As a Hawks fan...I'm good with it. We have (had) a ton of 2nds. It's expensive to move up in the 1st. Sound of Hockey and Puckedia give the edge to the Isles, but barely. By a 5th I believe.

Kyle Davidson has been open about last year he tried to move up in the draft to get Oliver Moore higher, but he had no one willing to trade with. This is likely the reason why this move happened today vs draft day. He found someone willing so he took it.

***EDIT*** I'd also add that the Hawks can likely get another 2nd round pick by taking on another contract/cap...so Let's just see how this all plays out.

Sort of an odd move to make this early but seems pretty fair. Slight edge to NYI probably.

Personally I don't think it's weird at all to trade up early if you know you're going to do it anyway, but I do find giving up #61 to move up a combined 6 spots, of which only 2 in the 1st round, to be very steep.

Hawks' prospect pool and draft capital is at a point where they can value position over quantity and NYI probably needs quantity in their prospects at this point, seems fair to me.

This seems early for this type of trade with the draft over a month away. I’m guessing Davidson might be trying to move the 18th pick up even further.

A bit odd to see a pick exchange before the draft, my only thought is Chicago might be trying to move up further or acquire assets for the better picks?

I think NYI wins this trade though

not sure moving up 2 spots for a 2nd rd pick is really worth it but i guess CHI really likes someone in that range. better hope that someone is a stud

Edge goes to NYI because A) the pick calculator says so and B) 3 picks >2.

I have to believe this is the first of another move for Kyle Davidson. Pick calculator says 14OA = 18OA + 50OA. So we'll see. If it ends up this is the final move then it's whatever. It's a nearly even trade but Hawks gave up a 2nd round asset.

Really weird to do this before the draft and give up #61 to move up a combined 6 spots (from 54 to 50 and 20 to 18)

This is a weird trade. Why move up only 2 spots in the 1st round and 4 spots in the 2nd round for a 2nd round pick, this early on. Considering no one is off the draft board yet. By picks 18-20 you may be drafting the same guy. Odd. This seems like a very clear win for New York.
