You'll have to provide a reason for Ottawa to do that.

With uncertainty of Landeskog and Nichushkin, wouldn't Colorado want to keep Ross around?

I would assume that is the reason they accept the trade.

They get a top nine winger and cap space plus another asset to help fill out their depth.

Brotherly love.

I think Ottawa cares more about having a good defense than brotherly love.

I assumed they wouldn't want to pay 2+ mil for a player that would potentially be their # 7. POJ can probably be signed for league minimum and battle it out with Klevin in camp.

I would love Colton on the Pens. Perfect 3C for them. I wouldn't bother with the Trenin contract though. Pens need to leave some openings on the bottom 6 for young players. Or get rid of Acciari and sign Trenin, don't have room for both.

The Sens will probably trade Brannstrom and go with Kleven at $900k for the 6th spot.

Avs decline and just play Colton on the wing.

can we stop acting like this is some huge loss of talent for OTT, it's not.

Not that it's some huge gain either.

Both of these players are severely flawed. Personally I wouldn't want to see either on any team.

Ex-fu.cking-actly!

The Sens have absolutely no reason to make a lateral move. If they're trading Brannstrom its going to be for a pick, not for a player who plays the exact same role.

Trenin brings a ton of what we need in terms of movement, forecheck and entries in our bottom six. I assume we could deal Eller or somebody in season if needed.

What kind of pick would you expect for Brannstrom, I'd give up POJ's rights and a 7th.

may i ask, what is the point of adding a player you feel so poorly about that what you would give up for them is basically well nothing?
I mean really. It's a waste of time.

Concept of the entire roster is Penguins dropping age in multiple roles. Brannstrom likely fits better in our top four than POJ.

Well, we don't want POJ.

I'd say he's worth a late 2nd or early 3rd.

Isn't Ross Colton just a better top 9 forward that's cheaper?

Penguins would be saving Avs 1.5 mil and removing contract commitments with retention.

Neither one of them belongs in our top 4. They both belong in the AHL.

I missed the retention. regardless, there's no way the Avs are trading a better player, 1.5mil savings or not, for a worse player. $4mil is a good number for 3C.
