Quoting: PensGMwannabe
I can certainly argue that getting out of Jarry's contract is incentive.

I can certainly not agree with that.
Getting out of an OK contract to take on one of the league's riskiest is incentive? No thank you.
Evolving-Hockey: Jarry had a GSAx of 11.78, 24th out of 98 goalies to have any ice time. Nedeljkovic had a GSAx of 0.68, 55th in the entire NHL.
Moneypuck is less positive of both of them: Jarry had a GSAx of 2.6, 32st in the NHL. Nedeljkovic had a GSAx of -3.3, 70th in the entire NHL.
The goalie market isn't all that great. The only UFA goaltender I'd consider as a starter is if I wanted to bet on Cam Talbot maintaining his LA performance instead of his Ottawa one. And I don't think we're getting him for $1.75M after the season he had. If he'd take that deal, LA would offer it to him.
I understand that Jarry isn't always consistent, but no goalie is. He kept us in a lot of games in the first half of last season. Nedeljkovic's late win streak was when we were finally able to out score our problems. As far as I'm concerned, there is no realistic way the Pens can move on from Jarry without getting worse in the crease.
And it's not like PLD is going to suddenly fix all our problems. There were times the Kings put him on the 4th line last year. "The Penguins depth has been an issue for years. Let's trade for the $8.5M man who had to fight Blake Lizotte to keep his spot in the lineup." Geno looked great after Bunting got here last season. Just keep him at 2C and we can sign a winger who can move the needle more than PLD for ab out $3M less.
