I don't really see a reason as to why New Jersey or Pittsburgh would do those deals

Leafs need to incentivize NJD to take Kampf.

I mean, I guess that could work for the Jackets. We weren't likely to do that conditional swap of 2nds with Philly this year anyways.

That said, I'm not convinced that Jarnkrok would get you that pick from Pittsburgh to begin with.

Toronto fans: trades Jarnkrok to Pgh for a 3rd round pick.
Pens fans: absolutely not, pens pass.
Toronto fans: ok how about a 2nd instead

Versatile 20 goal caliber player making 2.1. His NMC may lower his value, but he will still get a decent pick

Not for a 2nd, though. I'd use Roslovic as a comp. Similar utility player, similar production, similar cap hit, and he went for a 4th at TDL. But you've got to send him to a contender looking for some depth.

Personally I would rather hold out till the deadline to trade provorov. Need to see how mateychuk is. Would rather let him cook in the AHL before throwing him to the wolves. Or the jackets would need to sign a vet LD to a short term deal

The bolded IMO is a feature, not a bug.

20 goal caliber player is quite a generous definition of Järnkrok. But if we were to use that logic then the pens could rack up the 2nds with Acciari, Eller, and Smith lol
