Three Way Deal

Created by: DFence
Team: 2024-25 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: May 26, 2024
Published: May 26, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Necas cannot win face offs, Zacha can take face offs while Necas plays the middle of the ice. Bruins should absolutely resign DeBrusk and Heinen. They fit the system perfectly and are versatile. Give Lysell a chance to make the roster out of camp. If not, can move Geekie up to the third line plug in a fourth line RW. Poitras is a cornerstone and should be playing with skill players, period. Sign a veteran depth defenseman.

Basically this team swaps out Brazeau, Maroon, and Van Riemsdyk for Necas, Poitras, and Lysell. The 2023 Bruins were a good team that gets a lot faster and more skilled in this scenario. Plus they keep their draft picks and have good trade chips like Frederic and Geekie.

you know your a great market when the argument for a goalie with a m-ntc to waive is "closer to Sweden than out west"

My assumption is Carolina is going to resign Skjei and give Morrow a shot at RD. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t covet Ullmark more with their current organizational depth chart.

Also, I think Boston needs to add Lysell and atleast a 2026 second to make it interesting for Carolina.

That’s fine. In any event, I do think Necas is the type of dynamic talent they need up front. I would prefer Necas over guys like Lindholm and Stephenson because of his age and his speed and because I don’t think he’s reached his ceiling yet. His ceiling playing with Pastrnak would be very high.

I don’t believe he is a center. He is a poor fit defensively for the system as a center plus his face off numbers are weaker than id like for a conversion candidate. If they are paying him this salary and putting him on powerplay 1, I doubt he will have an issue playing RW.

I would sign Lindholm over DeBrusk if we acquire Necas. I’m not sure Heinen gets 2.5m on the open market, but he’s played well this year.

Couldn’t Zacha just take faceoffs and move to LW in play? Defensively he’s a poor fit but offensively he’s a terrific fit. I want the Bruins to remain a defensive minded team, but they also need to be able to score goals. I would take DeBrusk at $5-6M over Lindholm at $7-8M and have the cap to resign Heinen. So DeBrusk and Heinen together > Lindholm for me.

I think you are looking at 5.5 to 6.5M for DeBrusk and 7.5 - 8.5M for Lindholm.

I prefer Lindholm, but I want a center adjustment.

Debrusk is worth 4mil and not 6mil, if he wants that much we need to let him walk. Lindholm at 7mil would be leagues better and he's proven to be a quality 2 way center, and can play really well with or without great linemates. Debrusk needs a good linemate to produce so I don't consider him a true top-6 forward.

I understand your logic for sure. Again, in this scenario, signing Lindholm means not enough cap space for Heinen and having Heinen and DeBrusk is a better team than one with just Lindholm in my opinion. Heinen is a strong bottom six forward.

I would also like to keep Debrusk and Heinen in their roles, just don't wanna be paying a guy 6mil when he has never had a 51+ point season or even two. 4mil? sure no issue at all
