Montreal is definitely interested in Necas, but not for the fifth overall pick!

My guess is if the trade is for Ullmark, Fabian Lysell and a 2nd round pick in 2026 will also be going to Carolina

I'm not a fan of Boston trading for Necas. I like the player's offensive potential, but its been made public that he really wants to play center, and I just don't see the fit for a team in Boston that really relies on their centers to play strong defense and win key faceoffs. If he had those qualities, then he would have filled that 2C role that Carolina has so desperately wanted to fill for the past few years.

The bigger issue is playing a prominent role on the powerplay and upper lines. Being on the same team with his two countryman probably helps to a degree as well. I’m a fan of a deal that brings him in to play the wing.

Carolina has had an interest in Ullmark who would be an upgrade over Freddie Andersen. Boston also has a talented winger prospect in Lysell who can play on the third line

My understanding is that part of the reason why the relationship with Carolina isn't as rosy as it could be is because they don't play him at center. There may be more to it than that. But if it is true that he is unhappy at wing, then I think trading for him carries the risk of having him just sour on the Bruins as well. If he is comfortable playing wing or center, then I'm all aboard the Necas train.

Go ahead and coin Anaheim fully out if you think Necas is getting all that back

I listened to an interview on 99.9. the fan where they talked about comments by his dad and his mentor, Chicago goalie Peter Mrazek. The commentary on center came from a question Mrazek was asked and he even came up with a fairly innocuous answer about it like it would be a possibility, but would be up to the coaches and Marty.

Like I said, Boston offers him an immediate option to be top 6/powerplay. Part of me would rather trade Ullmark for a pick, resign JDB, and keep Lysell as a viable option for the top 6. That said, I can see Necas’s value if Carolina is interested in Ullmark.

An Ullmark, Lysell, and a 2nd for Necas deal might have some appeal to both teams. My guess is Carolina could find a home for Andersen fairly easily with the goalie situation around the league, but it looks like he has a similar No Trade to Ullmark (do they have the same agent?)

laugh Outside of Vancouver, The other teams are massively overpaying for Necas.

The Detroit trade alone, Has far more value than the Hronek trade.
