Unironically, the hawks would rather keep Jones.

Not to mention Jones wouldn’t want to play in Toronto.

You don't speak for the hawks, who've established a pattern with past trades already.

Jones would much rather be on a playoff team like the leafs than enduring a scorched earth rebuild with the hawks. Do you forget why he originally requested the trade that sent him to Chicago?

It's not like the cities are all that different either, so this should be common sense.

Hawks probably decline. 8OA is a very nice piece, but it doesn't get Jones w/ retention. Robertson and Lilypad don't add a ton of value to the dea either.

so this should be common sense.

If common sense was involved, this ACGM would have never been made.

He also rejected trades to Canadian teams. Trading Jones doesn't help the Hawks.

Actually I do speak for the hawks, literally.

I asked Seth Jones what he thought about playing in Toronto and he laughed. He said three words before leaving the room “No Movement Clause”.

Look... IF TOR can ACTUALLY get their hands on a top 10 pick, I think CHI should be willing to discuss retention and bring the proposal to Jones to see what he thinks. As others have said CHI has no intent or need to move Jones contract, doing so would leave CHI with a giant hole in their roster, and Jones has declined trades to Canada in the past. If it were the end of his contract, I think you could make the argument that he could change his mind and be interested in going to Canada for a season or two as long as it is with a real contender, but 6 years might take a lot more convincing. So, don't insinuate that you are doing CHI a favor by trading for his contract, it's a complicated and nuanced situation that doesn't have a simple "yes or no" answer. Unlike some loud twitter CHI fans, many CHI fans on here and I genuinely believe Jones can be part of CHI's future and that CHI brass feels the same way.
