He’s not getting moved at all unless he wants too

Well obviously but there is about a 50% chance he does get moved but a 0% chance it happens before July 1st

0% why? Marner is only owed 8 mil in actual salary next year, almost all of that is his bonus. So if they spend to the cap like in the scenario above they'd be spending less actual dollars after the marner trade than if they'd spent to the cap with saros instead.

Because you can't negotiate an extension until you start the final year of your contract, nobody is going to trade for him before then. Plus for most teams it's significantly easier to pay a player over the course of a season than it is to given them 7M before they play a single game for you

That's a different reason altogether that has more merit, but because marner can choose where he goes an extension is a given.

Appreciate the double down, but Nashville will not be scrambling to take out a loan in order to pay his bonus....

An extension is not a given, Nashville or wherever may be a place he's willing to extend but that doesn't mean he will agree to what they offer.

And no, paying someone 7 million dollars before they've played a single game for you is a massive pill to swallow and there are very few teams who can do simply afford that risk

He has a full no move, wherever he goes a contract will have already been discussed.

Not going to entertain the rest of the nonsense you keep doubling down on. I think Nashville will have a decent idea who Mitch marner is even before he plays a single game for them!

Not if the trade is made before July 1st. You can't discuss contracts before then

If all parties allow it then of course you can. Obviously this would be the case here.

No you can't... The rules of the league state otherwise.

I'm not opposed to this, but I'm not sure why NSH makes the trade unless they are confident TOR isn't going to snipe their pick; that said NSH's prospect target and TOR's prospect targets are pretty different as far as I'm aware. With the picks in 2024 being 22 and 23, I'm seeing this more like Saros and TBL 1st for Marner which seems fair to me.

If TOR is that bullish on having 22OA for some reason, I'm certain there could be a deal for the deadline where it is a swapping of picks and NSH also receives "future considerations"
