Feel like you over paid for Jones, and no shot Domi signs for less then 5m even on a short contract, he's already signed 1 5m+ 2 year deal few years ago and his stocks have never been higher after a good playoff with the stars and after a very good finish to the year and esp in the playoffs. Not sure if Chandler would take 5m as well, esp with other C hungry teams like Van looking to replace Lindholm, Bos, even Col. I think Domi at 3x5.5M and looking at a guy like Henrique on a 2x3M or Tyler Johnson on a 1 year nothing deal and looking to add another Goalie for security would be the move.

I did overpay for Jones to avoid arguments from hawks fans that I'm biased.

Domi signed for 1 x 3 mil after his stars run. His production actually went down last year, so 4 x 4.25 is actually quite generous. Stephenson is 30 so a 5x5 contract would be great for his production.

He signed a 1x3 due to no team having much cap or willing to spend long term so he signed to the best team possible. the last 2 years hes been looking for a long term deal and this year everyone has cap to spend so someone will overpay him a lot and multiple good teams will offer him 4.5-5M without having to sweat. Same thing for Stephenson, every team is looking for a top2 line C and he doesnt have much comp in FA to drive him down, only Stamo and lindholm who will both easily get 7+

Bertuzzi also signed a 1 year deal but got 5.5. Max has already stated he wants to stay a leaf and he simply isn't worth what you're suggesting. He had 9 goals and 47 points last year, that contract is more that reasonable. It's funny that last year nobody wanted him, but now that he's a leaf they'll never be able to afford to re-sign him.

I purposely made sure these acquisitions were more than reasonable to avoid looking biased...

Then he is untradeable, because he is not worth half his contract.

47 points and a first round loss and Domi's stock has never been higher? Ridiculous

Hawks aren't trying to trade him. There's no reason to at this point.

I disagree. I think it just increases the value that CHI needs to be getting back in a Jones trade. A top 10 pick could be enough incentive for CHI to both retain a bit of salary and actually ask Jones camp if they would be willing to waive his NMC. Anything less, and CHI likely wouldn't even bring it up to him and his agent, though.

It's actually worked out great so far. Huge help getting to the cap floor.

it has nothing to do with being a leaf and everything to do with him having 2 years were he played amazing during the playoffs and EVERYONE has cap room now due to the cap raising. last year he would 100% signed a 4x4 deal but now with everyone having cap it will naturally drive up his cap. Hes easily worth 4.5-5M to almost every team in the playoffs and close to the playoffs. bert got more $ because he played very well during his whole time as a bruin and already had a reputation of being a top 6 fwd

He could have signed the ROR deal at 4.5 if he was worth that but he's not. He had interest in returning to Dallas but they opted for Duchene instead.

He's a complimentary winger who's been incredibly inconsistent, including this past year. Despite that, his cap was "naturally" driven up from 1 x 3 to 4 x 4.25 in the signing above.

He's professed his desire to play and now stay in Toronto, yet a 4 x 4.25 mil contract that will carry him to 34 years old is an egregious underpayment, because he's worth 4.5 - 5 mil? Cmon dude, what are you even arguing about here...
