Maybe Washington? It's relatively popular team in the eyes of players in terms of not being a team that they absolutely would not waive for. Their current status as a retooler sucks from player's perspective, but that also makes them a viable option monetary wise.

Alternative options that come to mind are Utah, St. Louis, Philadelphia and Washington.

Not worth giving up all those assets to move Nurse. If they think he's that bad, they might as well buy him out and enjoy 2 years of cap relief before 4 years of dead cap.

Normally yes, but if he gets moved as a cap casualty then teams won't help them out

I doubt those assets would be worth dumping Nurse anyway, I think EDM needs to add.

His contract is more or less buyout proof anyway, so buying him out would only be considerable option if his value would be less than league minimum.

Those pieces aren't in particularly special, so maybe but at the same time, I don't think Nurse is that bad as a player. Even if he is that bad, teams would want him if it wasn't for his contract. The problem is the Oilers need their futures to improve, particularly they need to develop more NHL talent themselves.

Buying out his contract would essentially put them in a situation where they basically experiencing a flat cap more or less for 6-years. I don't think that's a good idea but I like it better for them than trying to dump him with multiple assets.

The Caps aren't doing that. Contracts like that are what got the Sharks where they are

If you want smith, offer up a 3rd round pick.

I think it wouldn't be their first choice but definitely would be something Washington would have to consider
