Hans fans gonna come in and tell you he’s worth a bag of pucks and a 2026 3rd. Anyway most of these are realistic except Poitras and Askarov. Don’t see Boston parting with Poitras unless they get an elite 1C back, and trading Askarov makes no sense for Nashville if they have Saros on the block.

Didn’t say there was. Just saying if Boston was interested in Necas, that’s who the canes would be asking for.

Sharnagovich > Necas. You’re out of your mind if you think Necas is bringing back 2 top 6 wingers.

What is that Nashville return? That's horrid too. Saros and Askarov? You’re tweaking, the whole reason Saros is being shipped is to keep Askarov, NSH wouldn’t be trading him

necas i would think would only be available for a nhl ready 2C (24-28 y/o) in the eyes of Canes management.

Stop it lmao. I meant for it to be one of the two, not both. Even then I don’t really like it. The odds of Sharangovich scoring 30 again aren’t great, plus he’s a UFA after the season when Necas is still an RFA

I think unless the canes get something they can’t refuse, the likely scenario is he signs a Fiala-like one year deal and they make a decision next offseason. They aren’t the team to make a trade for the sake of making a trade.

You realize they have space to sign him and Guentzel right? They don’t HAVE to trade him if they don’t get a deal they love. Also, teams are obsessed with his potential. Someone will overpay.

I do find it a tad bit ironic that Saros is on the list, but Ullmark isn’t and Askarov doesn’t make nuch sense unless you don’t believe in Kotchetkov long term. Not saying you should want a goaltender upgrade, but it’s just curious.

In reality, I’d be curious about Utah in an offer but the name I’d be looking at is Connor Geekie. They shouldn’t want to give you Crouse or Schmaltz as much as a prospect like Geekie and a collection of seconds.

I’ve been walking in with the assumption that Carolina won’t want to bridge Jarvis, but it opens up options if they aren’t looking for long term cap stability with him. I’ve assumed Carolina should be able to keep Guentzel as long as they don’t go cheap. Curious how Necas reacts to going back, because it’s fairly obvious he is unhappy with his role.

I think Necas is worth quite a bit in a trade from a talent perspective. I am uncertain how his contract situation impacts his value,

It does, but I don’t know how much. People will point to LA paying what they did for PLD as proof. Trying to think of other other RFA’s traded recently

The leverage is they can trade him anywhere, so teams that want him are bidding against each other. Every year someone makes the same stupid argument and every year teams trade players they have to trade for a fair return because the acquiring team was simply not the only team offering something. Not sure why this is ever hard to understand, but yet here we are.

i'm kind of with you on this for two reasons.
1. true top prospects getting moved is REALLY rare.
2. There's a reason Necas is on the block. He wants to be a center. the problem is he sucks at center. any team going after him in my opinion has to view him as a project, and therefor I sort of think it has to be a losing team. I don't think this is a situation where Necas can be viewed as a guy to get you over the hump, but rather continue to develop as an organization. I'm thinking Buffalo, Columbus, Seattle, Chicago, Utah, Montreal, and Ottawa. Not the bruins or other competitive clubs.
