no one came to crap on SJS fans so maybe you should stop acting like a 12 year old.

You clearly over here in a fanboi tizzy.

maybe read a bit of the argument you jumped into before claiming everyone is strawman because you can't comprehend in your blind raging.

I wish you all the best on X/Twitter in the future and hope you get the professional/medicinal help you need

Throwing a tanty because mean people on the internet don't agree with you? I know at this point I'm just feeding your Narcissism, so I'm not gonna go back and quote every comment you left in this thread. But you haven't defined a franchise played you just said "talent level vs peers" Robertson? Hintz? miro?

The sharks have tanked well and drafted well and are still a couple years away from being a legit contender. But they're executing the tank pretty well and when they are ready to compete guys like Smith and Celebrini will have NHL games under their belt. They're gonna be fun to watch.

oh here you go again raging away.
Learn to read man, I have stated multiple times on the FP.
I'm not going back into that, you will just have to learn to read.

And no one said they wouldn't be fun to watch, but winning and fun to watch are two different things. When you start stacking good young players it's going to start to equal wins. Those NHL games under the belt will come at the cost of not drafting in the bottom. But you simply don't get that now do you?

Which was the whole point. No one said they were bad players. The whole point is they are decent players who will ruin the whole idea of tanking when they are on the ice.
Preventing them from getting the pieces they need to get a real contender instead of just a stuck in the middle team.
But that whole point is just lost on fanboi's raging trying to act like they are smarter while throwing their "tanty"

But you over here raging because someone points this out and it's not just a fanboi "cup soon" group think meat head post.

Actually, Dallas did finish with the best record in the conference and drew the WC2 in the first round. Trouble is, this year that happened to be Vegas. It looked like Dallas was going to be rewarded with a matchup against LA, but Vegas lost their last game, which dropped them from 3rd in the Pacific to the 2nd wild card. That may have hurt Vegas more than it hurt Dallas, but sometimes the “reward” for finishing higher in the standings turns out to be more of a penalty then a reward. I think that’s why teams don’t seem to worry too much about their position in the overall standings unless they’re in danger of missing the playoffs.

That was my point... Dallas didn't get rewarded like how Florida did, for example

because the young talent is good just not franchise level good, and it will win games. Which will pull them out of those picks.

This is why I said, rush.

No need to rush these young guys in. Just tank it out is better for the team, the fanbase, and eventually these players themselves.
They aren't signing these guys already to not play them. Nor are they going to bury them in the AHL.

That is unless you think adding these guys isn't going to win games and pull them out of the bottom 5. Which I think is absurd. Of course they will win games, at least enough that other teams are tanking out under them. Which really hurts in the next 2 years drafts, as those 1OA are much better players.

I get it. You're saying that by signing Smith now, they're rushing him into the NHL because they can't send him back to college, and since he'll probably make the team better, but only by enough to lower their draft position, they'd be better off leaving him in college. You may be right, but I can think of a few counter points:

1) He won't necessarily make them better. Chicago with Bedard didn't finish any higher in the standings than Chicago before Bedard.

2) They could send him to the minors. I doubt that they would have guaranteed he would play in the NHL. They could promise to give him a chance, but he still has to make the team. It's not unusual to see a player who's better than some of the players who make the team get sent down because of waivers exempt status and lack of suitability for the available roles. For example, they probably wouldn't want Smith playing on the fourth line.

3) Teams have a limited time to sign college players, or they lose their rights. If they don't sign a player when he thinks he's ready to turn pro, they risk having him refuse to sign later, and then they'd have to trade his rights to avoid losing him for nothing. Some people have speculated that this may have been what happened with Cutter Gauthier in Philadelphia.
