Personally, I see Landy returning before playoffs

I think they're gonna run with Annunen as backup. He's cheaper, and looked decent enough to hold his own when he came in this past year.

If Landy is good to go he is good to go. You can't terminate Nuke's contract before his suspension end as long as he doesn't break the rules of his current suspension. And if he returns in November even if you want to terminate it the NHLPA will likely nix it

Resiliated? If you mean terminated, that simply is not possible; they're going to have to live with him, warts and all.

I don't get the Walker, Pickard, or TJ signing. Not the right move, but I don't hate the JT deal.

Resiliated is another word for terminated, french in origin

0% chance Tavares waives his NMC. Even if he would, not a move you wanna make. We already have a 2C, if Landy isn't back till playoffs you just get a winger with the remaining money. You're also missing 3 players on the roster. Assuming they're all sub 1 mil cap hits, you have at least 2.4 mil less. Drouin also gets a but more I think so they wouldn't have the moeny for Tavares.

I think the current ACGM move is to leave either Landy or Nuke on LTIR and have the other's cap hit via IR or on the roster. there's no way the Avs are going to hold on to $13mil of cap, but I think $7mil isn't far off.

You can't leave Nuke on LTIR because he's not on LTIR, as long as he stays clean until his suspension is over in November he is back on the roster.

If Landeskog is healthy you can't just hold him on LTIR either

I'm just explaining how the Avs will spend their money and how Avs's ACGMs should probably be run this offseason.

There is no "strike 3 PAP 6month suspension" slot in this app so I think that's as fair as it gets. Count landy against the cap ($7mil) and don't count Nuke. There is almost a zero percent chance they will both count against the cap this season. not at the same time.

Almost zero? The odds of Nuke returning are quite high, so you must believe that Landy is simply done

I think Landy has a ~25% chance of coming back. My heart has it around 99.9999% though.

And I think Nuke has a 0% chance. There is not a single person in Colorado that expects Nuke to show his face in the home locker room again.

Considering management has actively talked about supporting him, unless he is traded he will be back. You can't terminate the contract

and I guess to be clear - if the avs don't spend Nuke's cap hit regardless of his return, they're basically giving up on the season. They need to just figure it out later regardless

I would read some more reporting on how the media feels management is talking about it.

They will trade him, find a way to terminate his contract, and if not, then trade the players they signed in free agency. The vegas method, if you will.

He's suspended until November, how is that giving up on the season? That's like 10/82 games. Florida won the Atlantic despite Montour and Ekblad not returning to play until the middle of November. Boston put up that record breaking season despite McAvoy and Marchand not returning until November either.

I cannot stress enough that very very few avs fans or media folks expect Nuke to be allowed to dress as a Colorado Avalanche hockey player again. the players you could sign with that $6mil will not be there in November. There is also no guarantee he'll be reinstated in November. he is eligible for reinstatement if he doesn't mess up.

The Avs cannot rely on him. They'll buy him out if they need to but look for trades first. If he wants to play hockey, he'll have to agree to the trade.
