Jones already said no to Canada, And Marner isn't wasting his time on a cellar dweller team either.

Chicago does, which is why they decline this.

They definitely have no choice but to keep him. It's the worst contract in the game.

A guy overpaid by a million or so is not the worst contract in the game but you're usually wrong and I admire your consistency with that.

I admire your restraint with the FA signings. It's refreshing for sure and I appreciate that. I think Demidov is their pick at #2 although I've been on record about how much of a good fit I believe Levshunov would be here. As for the Jones trade, I think Chicago would pass. I like Marner but Jones fits in well here even if he is overpaid. I don't think Davidson moved up in the draft to spend those assets on a one year rental.

The Hawks have done extensive scouting on Levshunov and they could really use a blue chip RHD prospect in the system especially if theyre gonna try to move off of Jones. I could see a Demidov pick as well, I just think Levshunov makes too much sense for them.

The thing about Jones is not really the money. He's done nothing but complain about the team's status and he doesn't really seem to be bought into what they're doing. So I disagree, I dont think hes a good fit anymore. And to comment on your apprehensions about a rental, I think the only way a Marner deal gets done is if they have assurance he'll sign an extension.

That is not true in the least bit. Jones has not complained. He was asked a question in his interview a few weeks ago about how he feels after being traded to CHI not expecting a rebuild. And that is the ONLY time he ever publicly expressed any displeasure with "the teams status". And he also went on to say how excited he was about the rebuild and the progress and the players who are on their way and what he has done to try to bring the kids along. You just made that whole thing up about Jones.

A million? He's bottom 20% defensively in the league and isn't even all that good at offence. He is overpaid by more than 50% and it'll get worse every year. He has major negative value. Chicago would have to pay big time to get rid of that contract. TO will never have interest

Some kind of Stockholm Syndrome thing going on where fans of an awful (albeit rebuilding) team try to justify one of the worst contracts in the league. Easily top 5-10 stinker contracts; yet somehow exchanging him for a top 5 winger in his prime isn’t fair value 🤯. Tre would be fired were he to offer such an insanely one sided deal. A lot of crazy sh$t on this site but this whole Jones vs Marner one is next level

"If I could have seen 3 months into the future (when I got here)…I didn’t want to be in a rebuild when I left Columbus…we want to be one of those teams that are all on the same page, working towards a common goal. Everyone wants winners." - Seth Jones

Didnt make anything up. He basically implied he wouldnt have committed to the team if he knew they'd be bad. Thats on him and thats awfully negative coming from somebody who said he wanted to be a captain. Hawks should make him happy and send him to a contending team.

You said "He does nothing but complain....", implying that he brought that up unprompted and has done it many times before. He was asked a very specific question along those lines and answered it truthfully. What's he supposed to say? "I just wanted to be in CHI no matter what. It's the best. I expected a rebuild. Who cares if I'm in a rebuild in the prime of my career!" I mean, come on dude... He has never complained before that or since then. Listen to the question and the entire interview. Some of the questions were obviously prodding for headlines and he gave them a vanilla "no duh" answer.
