If the Sabres’ brass likes Noah Cates as much as I think they do, they definitely make that trade. I got the general feedback from Philly fans that that was nowhere near enough for him.

We just are not ready to give him up yet. We prefer Laughton gone and give Cates a shot at 3C full time.

This is made by some Habs fan who doesn't even know about ELC.

Cates is 25. He's shown he's better at wing than Center at this point. He's not someone the Flyers need to cling to if they can get value like a 2nd rounder. He is not and will not be Laughton.

Is there a problem with accounting for performance bonuses on Michkov? He may not obtain them all but he could get some.

You can forget all the B bonuses unless Michkov fixes our PP and offense alone. This team and PP especially has been such an offensive disaster for years now. A bonuses he might reach if everything goes well.

We're not going to be competitive in few years, so they can carry overages next year anyways when 15M in dead cap space goes away. No need to trade away anything valuable because of that.

And I don't think Danny is trading Cates for something that might be considered as a fair price, our FO and Torts loves him. Yes he's 25 late bloomer and 2nd year pro, but also was 15th in selke voting last year.
