Would not. It has to actually make sense to trade Gus. Not just trade him just for the sake of trading him.

Yeah NJD accepts but Mojo probably costs more, like a 3rd at least I'd say

In terms of trade value, the Kings would take it. But have to ask if Gustavsson is the best value goalie they can get. Based on last season, I'm leaning towards no. 3.75M for two more seasons makes it very difficult for the Kings to make any moves to their roster, which needs help. Someone in the 2M range makes more sense. And I'm not sure Minny can/will take any more retention lol

Look at the year before that. Top 5 in the league. I see Minnesota waiting till the deadline to see where Gus is at. Rebuilding his value could get a 1st round pick.

I have to laugh at $3.75M making things difficult for you. That’s pretty cheap for a starting goaltender. But if you want to go for fringe starters around $2M, I certainly won’t stop you.

Value isn't just the price, it's the quality for the price. You're not likely going to get a good goalie at 2M. You'll just be in the same spot you are now.

Anyway, Kaliyev is not a piece the Wild would be looking to add. If they end up trading Gus, it could just be for a 2nd. Though, they really should keep him and do a tandem of he and Wallstedt starting in 2025-26.

That's just the situation we are in, for this upcoming season at least thanks to Rob Blake lol we have a solid enough defense group that we made Talbot and Rittich look like a top 5 tandem in the regular season, so I think the plan is to try and replicate that, just with someone younger. Have Portillo in the shadows maybe ready for the position in 2026

Mojo isn’t an NHL-caliber player anymore! Taking his contract is more than enough compensation!!
