The Blues would rather it be few pieces, higher quality

The offer is fair but not what the Blues would be looking for

I believe that, but that's not typically what players his age go for.

I also think they’d target defense as most of their prospect group is wingers minus Dvorsky

That’s like me saying Risto kills the deal.. A bottom pairing Dman at 5 mill? That’s no better than a bottom 6 winger making 5 mill. Risto is untradeable, like Anderson. Both are equally bad deals, but Anderson under Torts will be rejuvenated so Flyers will end up with the better player. Either way it’s two rebuilding teams moving players who don’t fit the team they’re on, with basically the same contracts. Anderson will fit Torts system better than Marty’s and Risto will fit Marty’s better than Torts’.

They get a Dman here. If they want another you can switch out Kapanen for a D. They also can draft a D with the 1st rounder.

Yeah what they are needing is a high end defenseman. Barron ain’t that. They’d probably prefer the draft capital and try to move up into the top ten this year

Well having an extra 1st and 2nd is how you do that. Not sure I see any team moving out of the top 10 though, maybe NJ? I think an option would be to trade up to 13 with Minnesota. They’re looking for wingers with size, maybe there is someone you guys can give them along with a 2nd to do that.

Risto has actually been good for the last season and half. Shaw and Torts have actually fixed his playing. And we already have logjam on wings. Risto is also actually also tradeable, there were rumors of contenders interested of him (with like 1,6M retention), but he got injured. You can't say the same about Anderson.

Yeah they fixed him by barely playing him. He went from 23 minutes a game in Buffalo to 15 in Philly on the 3rd pairing. You guys probably would’ve gotten a 4th with retention at the deadline. He’s a negative asset. Btw in this deal you guys also get a younger quality bottom pairing right shot defenseman at a very low cap hit and a 3rd.

As far as wingers go, I have a feeling you guys will trade a few of those away including Konecny. I know you guys surprised this year but don’t forget it’s still a rebuid. Anderson isn’t supposed to be helping you win, but he would add vital leadership that will go out the door this is season, and that you no longer have in Couturier. Someone who trusts Torts and who will relay his message. You might not like it, but I could see it being a real option.

Oh I know they're rebuilding, sometimes it even feels that I'm pretty much the only one on this site who gets it. Even if they move some wingers, there are also prospects in line waiting for their turn.

And for Risto, yes they reduced his ice time and made him shutdown D, who averaged 16:40 with injuries this season. And that role change has been the working concept for him. I just don't get what makes you think Anderson brings leadership and is a guy who trusts Torts compared to Risto. Risto even said that he wishes he had Torts as his coach when he entered NHL.

Big physical RHD will always have some value. And I believe they would rather keep him and get his value higher, than acquire even more expensive 4th liner. They ain't trading the better player for more expensive, worse player just to lose some games more.

If he were worth playing more they would play him more. With that contract and what they gave up for him they have every reason to play him as much as possible. That’s basically what they’re doing, playing him any more and he hurts the team. Yes I agree that right shot D have value, bad ones who are paid 5 mill have very little though. Luckily in this trade they get the value they would probably get from anyone else without having to retain half of the contract. What will happen is they’ll play that contract out until the final year and then retain 50% and get a 3rd for him. Instead of doing that they can do this and get that return now. I know Anderson is a leader because he’s always been a great leader, even in his days with Columbus.

You talk about Anderson like he’s a useless player but don’t forget he’s the exact same player he was when Torts had him on the top two lines. Having a poor shooting season doesn’t change that. The only thing that’s changed is he doesn’t fit our system since Marty came in. He fits Torts system to a tee. He’ll go back to scoring 20 goals a season in Philly.

Either way we can agree to disagree. It’s a pretty mild deal. Mostly a nothing trade, just sending players to another situation that might be better for each player.

Well Hayes case is different as they wanted to get rid of certain players (Hayes, TDA and Provorov). But yeah, we can agree to disagree. I'll be disappointed if they trade Risto for Anderson and don't see any reason to do it. And Habs should be happy to have some leadership and a guy who can potentially hit 20 goals.
